The recruiting board got Odo out of his LOI at north texas. Only for him to be the definition of a warm body.

I remember thinking way back in the day, "glad we got this Shaquille O'Neal kid, but not sure how he fits since we have Stanley Roberts."

There was no transfer portal back then and players also stayed longer

I had a weird feeling that Reid, Gaines, Murray, and possibly fudge and Wilkinson will test the draft waters

None of them would get drafted.

They’ll just go to get feedback

I expect everyone to stay but I have an inkling that Reid might stay and get a 2 way deal

the following players declared for the draft 3 years or less and didn't get drafted under Will Wade:

Brandon Sampson
Naz Reid
Emmitt Williams
Trendon Watford
Javonte Smart

just because they might not get drafted, doesn't automatically mean they'll stay

Smart, Watford and Sampson were not going to get drafted with another year of college

Reid SHOULD have been drafted. Kinda wild he didn’t center get picked in the second.

Until he can be at least some sort of threat moving to his left the higher level of scouting done on the NBA level will negate most of his offensive game.

Tell that to Otto Porter and Jimmy Butler.

I think this needs to be re-said. You can enter your name and get feedback as much as you want now, but I wouldnt always consider that seriously "testing the waters". Even then I doubt most of those guys you mentioned put their name in for that after this year because the NBA would almost immediately come back with "uhhh what? you're nowhere close right now" except for MAYBE Murray's game and that's even being very generous.

None of those guys are leaving unless they want to, transfer portal or NBA. Basically the core group of guys we will build the 2022-23 team around with Miller/O'Neal/Williams as well.

I agree. But I also think next year's roster will look much different that people are anticipating. There will be transfers. Even if they seem somewhat illogical. That is simply the nature of the game today. Hell, just look at this year's LSU team. There are two transfers (Pinson and Miller) who seemingly had zero reason to transfer last year. Both were entrenched starters on teams that went to the NCAAT last season. In Miller's case, an Illinois team that was a #1 seed and projected to be good again this season. It can't be said that either left for more playing time or a chance to start.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 4-5 players from this year's roster with eligibility remaining leave after the season. Even if they are expected to be big contributors next year. The new rule in CBB is that rosters are rebuilt year to year. They days of guys staying and developing over the course of 3-4 years are ending.

This also my take also, unless Will Wade will play a 10-11 man rotation

I could see Fudge going elsewhere. Gonna be loaded at forward next year

I think he stays. You hate to speculate, but I wouldn't be surprised to see guys like Wilkinson (wants a bigger role), Colbery/Ezewiro (just want to play), Reid (not a good fit) think about leaving. Not that I want any of those guys to leave. Just those that may find a basis for doing so. Gaines and O'Neal would probably be wildcards. Can O'Neal (who is on his 3rd team) transfer without having to sit out? Does the staff have confidence Gaines in his 3rd year can be the lead ball handler? Particularly after a year that has shown how vital good PG play is to the efficacy of the LSU offense?

We'd love to see guys work and develop throughout their careers like Mays, Smart, Reath, and Days did. Unfortunately, that mindset isn't as prevalent with the option to transfer immediately into what they think is a better situation.

IMO Gaines stays as he is the defense. He’s best when he has offense around him so he doesn’t have to play out of himself

Wilkinson I could see leaving but Wade seems to love him. We’ll see if the incoming offense is enough to push him out.

Reid would be a solid backup center and i could even see him starting at the beginning of the year if Traore isn’t far enough alone (hopefully he is). I’m not sure who else would step up in his role or even backup Traore if Reid leaves. I hope he stays at least one more season to see if he can develop

I could see O’Neal leaving but does he want to move again? Idk.

Guess we’ll see. All I know is we’re in good hands with Wade
