He wasn't going to be on scholarship at LSU his first semester. Deny it all you want, but you have to admit the way the situation was handled was tasteless.
ETA: You're inferring he would want to transfer to LSU. The OP didn't state that he was wanting to go to LSU.

Yet, he still holds that grudge.

Link to SEC rule?

Does he? I don't know, but I highly doubt Chizik would release him to LSU, so this entire rumor is probably pointless.

Same thing happened to Porter except a lot worse. He got over it and came to LSU.

Did you read the OP?

He could possibly transfer and may even grayshirt one year at LSU

Yes, I read it. I also know that the guy reporting it is a joke. That's a pretty extreme inference he's making. What if Miller wanted to go to Miami to be closer to home? Never know.

Also, their OL coach Grimes is a notorious a-hole. Really good at getting kids on campus but from what I have read, once the kids get there they pretty much hate the guy
Making something up and pass it off as "I read..." = FAIL.

Miller getting "homesick" also coincides with Spring practice where he is getting his first real exposure to coach grimes rather than recruiter grimes.
I thought the OP was hilarious then I read this shite.

No. Miller does not. The only way he has to sit out two years regardless of conference is if the school he is attending does not grant him an unconditional release. Schools will state to the student-athlete the schools they can and can not attend. If AU says he can't go to a particular school, then Miller can choose the JUCO route and go to any school he so chooses. If AU says he can go to LSU (example) or someone within the conference he can transfer there immediately while sitting out the mandatory one year period.

wow.... just wow..... God owes us after Jan. 9th, so look for this to happen....

I would still like to see a link to the two year thing, whether it be from the conference or the NCAA. The only thing I've read says if a release isn't received then they can't be on scholarship while they sit out their one year.

these extra snap reps that Reid Ferguson gets in the spring will be invaluable
absolutely, you know how important it is to get that timing down? You can't just do that in the summer and no way should you expect a 2 star, long snapper to pay his own way for a semester. If wants to EE, you find the room for a long snapper.

You are the one trying to spin it, EE is not the norm, he would have been given a scholly if he came in the summer, when most freshman come. Given the roster, QB was a bigger need. There is nothing tasteless about that. The irony is if, they had told Kiel, we'd love to have ya, but you'll have to pay your own way for Spring 12, people like you would be ripping Miles as an idiot.

An unconditional release would be just like a transfer and basically would just use up his redshirt like normal. See Mike Blakely from UF to Auburn last year. A conditional release would mean likely that he would be prohibited from transferring to a school within the division without having 2 years of non scholarship play which is the more likely event if it were to happen. No way Auburn releases him outright to go to LSU. If he's okay with paying his own way for 2 years(unlikely since dad scoffed at paying 1 semester) then he could transfer to LSU and join the team. If not then he could choose to tranfer to an allowed school and just sit out a year or go to Juco for 2 years. I'm pretty sure the SEC has a rule that automatically states that a kid that transfers within the division with an unconditional release has to sit pay his own way for 2 years. All the rules and the unlikelihood that Auburn outright releases him means that it's highly unlikely that Miller is LSU bound if he leaves Auburn. Much ado about nothing imo. Would take him in a heartbeat but I'm personally not real high on him though he has a ton of upside. Problem is that he's likely at least 2 years away from playing regardless of where he's at. He needs to add bulk and technique. Not unusual but he's a little rawer than most ranked as highly as he was.

I agree. Miller's very raw, and was ranked almost solely based on toughness and upside.

Thats what I'm asking for, a link to this rule. This is mentioned all the time but I've never seen it in the SEC bylaws.
I don't think Miller is coming here or looking to leave regardless, I'm just curious about the rule.
