Who are all these crying little bitches who are pissing and moaning about this all of a sudden? So your school doesn't sign a full class every year and you have no attrition ever. Good for you. Have fun playing in the Papa John Bowl next year while we play in the best conference this side of the NFC South and will win another National Championship now that crowning one doesn't depend on what some Northeastern Associated Beat Writer thinks.

Im not sure how they are doing it. They have us at 85 schollys but we didn't have that many scholarship guys last year. So the leftovers went to walk ons that aren't guaranteed one next year.
I have us at +9 assuming we take 23 in the incoming class.

quote:Big Ten. They have a rule against it, so they cry when other conferences do it. It's dumb as hell, but they can't see that.

The south has more talent in the north. so the more we "oversign" the weaker the big 10 will be in the long run if they can't get the leftovers from down here.

Alabama was at 84 scholarships during the season, as Mike Marrow transferred after the season started. I also doubt Jay Williams keeps a scholarship as a punter, since he didn't win the job last fall. That's gets Alabama to +10.

Didn't you have that wanker vol transfer in though?

He's a JUCO signee. He'll count just like anyone else in the 2011 class. He's just an EE, like the other 7 Alabama had enroll yesterday.

I am so sick of hearing about oversigning. You can't simply subtract the seniors that have used up their eligibility and subtract the juniors that have declared for the draft. No one but the coaching staff, and they may not, know was is going to happen to their team.
Signing day is in early February. That leaves 7 months until fall practice for any of the following to occur:
1.) A player on the current roster transfers.
2.) A player on the current roster quits.
3.) A player on the current roster graduates and give up football.
4.) A plyaer on the current roster has an injury that prevents him from playing again.
5.) A player on the current roster dies.
6.) A player on the current roster leaves to become a professional in another sport (e.g. track, baseball, etc.)
7.) A signee doesn't make his grades.
8.) A signee is drafteed to play baseball.
Especially, with spring practice occuring after National Signing Day, many players may decide after spring ball to transfer. It is not that uncommon. This whole "oversigning" excuse for the SEC's dominance is way overblown.

The bigger thing in all of this, and the tards that attack it, is only the coaching staffs know who's exactly on scholarship. There's this little thing called an academic scholarship. I know Alabama has four or five they may be on one. Plus, we have the Bryant Scholarship that a couple of guys are on. Until the NCAA stops allowing 25 signees every season, and 100 in a four year period, there's nothing stopping this practice.
