I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Chad Jones has at least one kid. This was a pretty important factor in him going pro.

Every good program should have a decent level of attrition IMO.

It's impossible for any program, any coach to have a 100% accuracy rate on talent evaluation. The players that get on campus and can't hack it should transfer out so that new bodies can be brought in to have a shot. That is a naturally good thing.

I have a list of about 100 basketball Tiger ranters I would like you to send this to.

Loosing guys early to the pros is a type of attrition that sucks. That partion of the attrition is never a good thing.

Not necessarily. If you lose a guy to the pros early it's likely because they are pretty damn good. If other recruits see that you can get guys into the league the are going to be more interested in your program.

It is far different in football as a coach can generally plan for it and recruit accordingly because of the number of scholarships allowed. Plus a football coach is guaranteed at least three years whena player signs and often gets four years fromredshirtjuniors. Contrast that to basketball where a player can blow up like Tyrus Thomas and suddenly he declares for the draft. That same player in football would be around for two more years.

chad jones is a pure bread linebacker.he needs to be there in my opinion.
Laron Landry clone imo. Great hitter, shaky pass defender.

Isn't Miles greyshirting some kids this year too?
The QB from U High, but if I recall he was a preferred walkon. Not sure how all that works?

I heard the main reason was due to grades. As in he wouldnt of been able to even play baseball this year they were so bad.

Best HS class in a decade and LSU has the smallest amount of scholarships available in a decade.

Great.

Thanks Dan. Glad you found it useful. I think it helps to explain why we took a step backwards the past two seasons. Compare the leaders from that 2004 class that were so instrumental in our 07 championship to what we had the past two seasons. There just weren't enough of them. I expect the team to improve next year (assuming the OL plays better), but I really think the push for championships resumes when the 08-present classes mature (beginning in 2011).
