Doesnt matter. recruiting classes arent ranked on depth.

Actually in a way they are. One team can have a higher star avg, but another team can have more recruits with a lower star avg and be ranked higher. Well, that's how Rivals does it anyway.

I liked pratt, but bruisers like him aren't exactly hard to come by. Is he really that much better than singleton?

Pratt really isn't a bruiser. For being as big as he is, he's really more of a finesse guy. And I think the coaching staff really liked his pass-catching ability more than anything else.

Ford is the high-carry, downhill back in this class.

Yeah... I think Henry was a little more shifty, but that's not too far off.

Derby, you are losing sight of the original post. The debate is not "is this an awesome class" or even "is this LSUs best ever"...the debate is over "is this the greatest class ever? The short answer is NO, it isnt. Had LSU landed guys like Montgomery, Debose, Campbell, we would have an argument. USC has had better classes than this. You are hard headed. Just stay focused on GREATEST class ever and theres really not a debate.

you know that Les Miles isn't even qualified to understand what the best class of all time at any school is...Jesus, how do you even measure that...by Rivals star ratings since they have been ranking players?

I believe he met best ever at LSU, and he will probably be right by the time signing day rolls around

that's short sighted imo, Josh Reed was recruited as a RB and wasn't Corey Webster?

Yeah, I think Ford is right around 4.4 - 4.45 at his best, and he's a big strong guy considering his frame... which is counteracted by the fact that he's got a smallish frame. But I do think he's built enough to survive the SEC if he's not asked to pound into DTs and MLBs every play (ala Scott).

i don't think we'll ever have the greatest recruiting class in the history of mankind without some high 4s and 5s from out of state

a) who cares about that dumbass distinction that can't even be measured or compared correctly

b) we do have several big time recruits from other state ..arguably stole the top 2 recruits out of Texas despite all of the heavy hitters who recruit that state

quote:

we got out-recruited by UF when he was our's for a long, long time. that stung

then you're an idiot to think that way IMO

quote:

that still doesn't get into (1) our finish or (2) the rank of this class when compared to the best all time

we can easily finish with Rueben Randle and others.. and this will be the best LSU class of all time - if that is even quantifiable or makes any sense whatsoever

My bad. I misunderstood SFPs use of the word depth. I see y'alls point.

well if you saw the title of this thread, les thinks enough of the distinction to mention it

if you forgot, the title of the thread and what is being discussed again:

quote:

"One of the greatest classes ever." - Les Miles

quote:

well UT didn't really make a push for shep or loston, so it's hard to say we "stole" them from UT

CW was a high school athlete who played multiple positions and was primarily recruited as a WR. Played that position for 1 1/2 yrs before Saban moved him to corner. Worked out pretty well for
him I'd say.

that's not what's being discussed

"greatest classes ever"

E-V-E-R

this is what was said in the article:

quote:

“One of the greatest classes ever. Certainly at LSU and possibly nationally. Potentially, it’s a great class."

don't stretch it... he says possibly nationally because he would have no clue how to know if it was or not

you guys are ridiculous

I guess you think the quality of the class is only defined by the number of stars. The guys who come in, fill a needed role, stay in the program 4 or 5 years and become great leaders don't enter into it? Year in and year out the best teams need these type of guys. It's not all about the stars.
