Exactly. joe, CEH and Brady made the line look better than it actually was last year. Cregg needs to go

This is an interesting narrative, considering 3 of those dudes were drafted and 2 of them are currently starting in the NFL. Yeah, there were definitely plays where CEH and Burrow escaped a sack or tfl, but there were also plenty of times where the line blew the d line off the ball and dominated.
Also, don't discount how important Moss was to both pass protection (chipping the defensive end) and run blocking. That dude was extremely important to our success last year and helped Deculus immensely.
The offensive line this year is consistently getting their shite pushed in. That didn't happen last year.

Good analysis. The common knowledge that Oline is an area where it is difficult to predict how well high school kids develop make it hard to understand why we sign so few.

And the third became a starter in the NFL before he got hurt.

if this is the best he can recruit, he simply cannot be our OL coach.
He's recruiting higher rated guys than both Grimes and I'd say Stud wasn't any better than him recruiting wise while at LSU.
Unfortunately our state just doesn't produce many high quality OL recruits. I honestly think this recruiting class will seal Cregg's fate though. If he misses on Leigh and Byrd then he will be toast.

It’s kind of funny, we used to always shite on Miles for recruiting nothing but guards. It seems like O/Cregg have tried to recruit true tackles, but it’s blown up in our face the last couple of years.
I agree with OP’s overall premise though, we need numbers. 5-star offensive linemen are great, but at this point I’d settle for one or two top-300 guys and three projects every year.

Brody Miller's latest piece on the OL isn't helping. He talks about how bad our scheme is and how we often have 3 OL block 1 person with a defender running free. Either Cregg is underperforming as a coach or the guys we have just do not get it.

I think it's on the players.
Also, it takes time for an o line to come together.
Hines misses blocks constantly.
You really only have 1 true starter back from last yr

Yes, but it was natural to expect some of these guys to take a step forward. They all had enough playing experience to be prepared to move into the starting lineup. Hines and Deculus have been major disappointments this season.
