Seems LSU, with their lack of depth at center may want to take a flyer on this guy. 6’2” 290lbs with a 4.0 gpa.

He has a D3 offer and you think he should get a look from LSU???
Read the Advocate article on him. Very smart kid with big professional dreams. Maybe instead of trying to walk on at LSU, he gets himself a full ride at an academic school and reaches for those life goals.

I think with the multitude we have at guard right now, Cregg will deeply cross-train a few of those guys across the line. Especially since our depth on the line is very young and a lot of guys will be vying for playing time. This maximizes our rotations and gives guys experience at multiple positions on the line, which makes the NFL scouts salivate.
Soniat has a very compelling story, however he seems too injury prone to be a complete take without caution. Many of the camps he would have shown his abilities at were canceled this off-season, so there has not been a chance to scout him at center. If he has a very good senior campaign, and maintains his extremely impressive academic performance, he can certainly be a PWO. He is definitely a little undersized, I think his measurables online are a bit overstated. He's probably more so in the 5'11 to 6'1 range and 270 (especially if he was a heavyweight for wrestling). Hard not to like the kid, we've all been at that point in life. I hope he picks up more offers and gains a little more exposure.

Ikr, Gavin keep up the tremendous work. Everything that is meant to happen will happen. Continue to give 200% on the football field, wrestling mat, and in the classroom and in all things that you do.

LSU doesn’t take flyers on anyone unless your brother is a badass

Cush had been committed to South Carolina though.

Wasn't it Vandy?

Nope; it was USCe. Cush was not a "flyer"; he was a solid SEC prospect.

Miss St wanted Cush as well
Dutchtown C from last season is a walk on this season
The biggest thing for the EA prospect is to have a senior season
That's what I would worry about

Also had major conf D1 offers from Minnesota, Mississippi State and Purdue. Also had Arkansas State, Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, ULM, Southern Miss, Troy and Tulane offers. Cush certainly was in a different planet from an unranked guy with a DIII offer.
The way we take a flyer on a guy like OP mentioned is offering a preferred walk on spot which if his only offer is DIII might be his best offer considering DIII doesnt give out scholarships anyway.

The article says his coaches hope he can get enough attention to get an offer for Army, Navy, or Air Force or about Ivy League offer.
He has a 4.0 and 31 ACT. If he is good enough, he will definitely get Ivy League offers.
