Best according to whom? MaxPreps stats?
Asher Murray does have the best kicking stats in the state this year, but as you should clearly agree, that doesn't always tell the whole story when evaluating kickers in HS.

Thanks! Things have gotten a little crazy, ready for the process to be over. Hard to know what is right and wrong, or who is telling you the whole truth. CRAZY.

I am not sure what stats you are flying on. But you are definitely correct, there is a whole different story and process when evaluation kickers that most people are just not familiar with.

Just saw the decommit! Those guys could have set the hook a little better with a full offer…but oh well. Congrats to you and Cooper, one helluva kicker you got there.

Demolishes it. Great kid too.

Thanks! Not the way we wanted it to go, but things happen. Nothing but positive things to say about Boise, they are great. Fielding some other offers now, pretty sure we know, but still in the process.

issue with Ramos
He does not have a strong leg, and kicks the ball very flat. Not much loft. And I guess some have forgotten the 2022 FSU opener.
(I know a modest amount about placekicking, my son was first team all-state his senior year, the first year he’d ever kicked, so I understand the passion Dads have for discussions about their kids)

What could have been? That’s talent.
College recruiting, in that position, isn’t nimble enough to find that though.

Don’t commit again. Cooper will know which agreement he wants to sign.
My son didn’t sign with an agent until after he signed, but Cooper may need one before. That advice has been given I’m sure though.

Considering Les was at most of our games (his son was the QB), and Gamble couldn’t keep kickoffs from going out of bounds at the time, you’d think he might have caught on. Wade Richey told him he should be kicking on Sundays when we worked out with him a few times. Do wish we’d figured it out sooner so he could have gone to some camps and gotten some formal coaching.
The ChemE degree he got wasn’t a bad alternative. Hope your son makes it big, I know it’s nerve wracking to watch sometimes.

LSU was among the schools he considered. He had built a strong rapport with Greg McMahon — the special teams coordinator back then — and even spoke with Cade York, the LSU kicker at the time. But Peyton never heard back from the school after coach Ed Orgeron was replaced by Brian Kelly after the 2021 season. "(Former special teams coordinator) Brian Polian was the only one who read his text and didn't respond back," Ross said.
Bring back mcmahon. Kelly and Polian shite the bed. Shocker.

Why me? I went to LSU for 8 years, graduated in physics and with an MS in EE, got published… married a Chimes waitress who graduated with a French Lit BA…my son is the best 2025 kicker in the country by a long shot…frick. We (LSU) suck at special teams.
You're a weird dude. No one gives a frick about how great you think you are.

I’m a fricking slacker. But I am a dyed in the wool LSU fan. Meaning, my observations of LSU’s team are coming from a fan’a side…I don’t know shite about the program…

We had Brek in the car with us after he won the winter Elite camp in Orlando. That was genuinely the happiest I’ve ever seen a kid. He was so fricking good that day. I’ve seen him better and in bigger moments, Top 40, but never seen him happier. He’s going to kill it. Kid grinds.

Yeah, these kicker threads make the camps and evaluations seem like the seedy underbelly of college sports.

Does your son know that you post here under the "Gaston" username?

Really not sure. He is going to make his decision on committing soon. Have not yet entertained or signed any other agreements.
