I don't have a clue what went on behind the scenes.

from what i have read, miles made the best decision that he could in crunch time.

signing benton, and losing randle would have been RETARDED.

the rewards far outweighed the risks of signing randle instead of benton.

but, if benton had got his stuff straight 2 years ago, we wouldn't have had all this speculation.

he would have been a tiger 2 years ago.

this really boils down to someone taking responsibility for their actions, and someone not.

all of this signs great, except that Miles changed his mind the day before signing day. He changed his mind after Randle's dad made those comments.

If Miles does this earlier in the year, then this is believable. But, doing it the day before signing day is shady.

Miles is getting blasted for 1 guy. ONE. I really hate to do this because it makes me look like the rest of the idiots on this board that don't know what they're talking about, but regardless of what anyone says, Alabama will be pulling 8-10 scholarships this year. AT LEAST. That's the only possible way to make those numbers work.

Point is, you guys don't think this happens elsewhere? Personally, I'm still leaning on OBUDan's post yesterday. It's the one that has made the most sense to me. But, bottom line, everything we post is speculation. No one here knows the truth. Except dmitch, but you guys can't expect him to come out and just explain everything.

is there any chance you'll answer the question?

why do you think LSU pulled the offer from benton?

you never will. if you did, it wouldnt be behind the scenes

who on this site or anywhere else has suggested otherwise? can you name anyone? do you know anyone that said miles made the wrong decision?

i've agreed with that since my first post this morning

the result ended okay, but the process stunk

if, if, if, if

he didn't, and he was in the same class/year as randle, and they both HAD offers from LSU

one was pulled

and who stood up to take responsibility?

RR has been quoted as saying benton effected his decision on LSU, and that didn't come out till tuesday...don't act like that is taking responsibility

No need for a defense mechanism man.

Just letting you guys know your heads will explode trying to figure this out without knowing all that went on

And if you think Bradshaw will hold a grudge with lsu you had too much to drink last night

recruiting is a stinky process sometimes.

but I have no doubt that miles made the best choice in regards to what was the best for LSU.

OBU analysis is that randle's dad went on the radio to take the heat for benton so that benton could freely choose AU over LSU and not really to make LSU coaches do anything to get Reuben

absolutely it does, BUT saban won't get blasted for it and yet, will get praised for having another stellar recruiting season (by most)

miles on the other hand will be hurt by this one instance....which is why it is more important

RR decision also affected Bell's signing with Alabama, but no one is bitching about that. Is Bell + Benton better than RR? No. Easy choice, hard spot for a stand up guy to be in though.

Here's what I've gathered from Randle's interview and other boards.

A non-LSU board said that it became apparent to the Randle's that Benton did not want to go to LSU. So... Randle's pops went on the radio in some ways to lessen the blow of him wanting to leave (because they are friends).

Benton follows suit by doing what everyone thought was unthinkable (switching) and Randle falls in line picking LSU.

Add to that the Benton probably knew Randle would be first in line and I think that's why he was looking elsewhere.

He could be full of shite. Who knows?

what would any of you do in miles position?

you have 2 great wr coming your way. one of the dad's goes on radio and says you cannot have both. it stinks to let a recruit dictate who else you can and cannot go after, and i for one will look at RR differently now.

yes, i do feel for the other kid, i do not think his auburn trip meant anything, lots of kids took other trips, his offer was pulled to secure the services of rr. i just hope that rr and db both have great college careers and rr's dad tries this at the next level like eli did.

yep, and LSU got the better recruit in my opinion with less/ or no baggage who could qualify right away.

good grades, 18 years old > bad grades 20 years old

you don't change your offers based off of what one recruit wants/says. it sets a bad precedent. Regardless of the results, you can't let a recruit who isn't even on your team decide who you are offering scholarships to.

dmitch, i'm not saying that this is actually what happened. But, this is definitely what it looks like happened. and it is a shame.

Could you imagine us pulling DBent's offer and then Randle going to OU?

Then, we have 0 WRs because we let one person outside of the program dictate who got an offer.
