My friends son is his teammate at Barbe as of right now, the word is he has expressed zero interest in going to college.

MLB guys tag him as an “upside” guy and he’s already throwing mid 90s.

Usually not a good indication he won’t be drafted high.

Perfect game has him ranked #12 overall player in high school

Funny thing is he’s not our highest ranked recruit we have the #1,#2, #4, and #10 that is fkn crazy.
But none of those guys might not make it to campus.

After that we have 4 more players ranked in top 100 according to perfect Game. So that’s 9 total which is insane. Jays class next year might potential top this past years with Kling n them.

And in 25’ we have 7 in top 100 with 4 in the top 40 as of now

Not everyone cares about the college experience. Some do some don't. Factor in the $$$ some families need. Hard to question any kids decision. That being said the Crews plan worked perfectly for himself and LSU. Hopefully a few more of these ELITE level kids to make it to campus.

He's got an arm, but its not a mega, no-brainer arm. He is a lot like Ty Floyd coming out of HS, imo.

I don’t think he or his family have tried to hide it. Nothing wrong with that, college baseball isn’t for everyone but IMO that not going to help him in negotiations once he’s drafted. Gotta play the game.

You are correct. On the flip side, the life of a Minor League phenom sucks compared to a College Star for about 3 yrs anyway... Just depends on who has the prospect's ear the most.

i had a friend i grew up with who got drafted out of high school and chose the minor leagues over auburn and he regrets it to this day. said the minors sucked, you get bounced around constantly, and should've gotten better in college before entertaining money.

he's set financially as he invested his signing bonus but told me the experience alone probably wouldve been worth it.

People don’t realize how tough it is emotionally living that life when you’re 18/19 years old.

I can understand your stance on being 18 or 19 in the minors but I can think of a lot harder situations. College provides a little direction and provides some support. If you have success in CBB then you will most likely only improve your draft stock. I don’t know what the numbers tell you regarding highly drafted players choosing college over minors. I could be very wrong on success rate but hey you always have a college education.

Yeah… that’s how I feel too. However, if it’s money that would set you up for your life, I say take it. All depends on your family situation too. Every situation is different. It definitely worked out for Dylan, but that’s not always the case.
