Per Seth Dunlap, WWL radio. @sethdunlap

First tweet:
Sources have told me that Hahnville star running back Anthony "Pooka" Williams @laapookaaa will sign with @KU_Football tomorrow morning, after also receiving interest from @HuskerFBNation & @LSUfootball among others. Details inside

Follow up tweet:
LSU never sent Pooka any paperwork, so he didn't have the option of playing for the Tigers. This isn't on Pooka. Need to be clear about that. Also, LSU has had great success in early signing, and might have offered him if other guys fell through

no grades = no offer

it really is that simple....they won't take a risk with so many others that will qualify and that are just as good

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck why couldn't he just wait so we could make sure he made his grades? Why does he want to sign early?

With a ceiling of 25 scholarships, this is tough, but inevitably a no-brainer - talented as he is, he won’t suit up at least next Fall.

Well, unless he didn’t get any paper because he didn’t have the grades to qualify?

I mean, how can LSU possibly get any shite for this when he’s about to sign with fricking Kansas? The kid doesn’t have many options and Kansas is in a position to gamble.

Egg-zactly! With the 25 limit, every scholarship signee needs to be someone who is academically qualified and can play as a true freshman if needed. We've been down the "wait on the clearing house" path before and we've had world-class signees who never saw a down.

Because some of our fans are stupid.

If he indeed does sign elsewhere, I believe LSU will have dodged a bullet on this one. Talented kid. But we should use that spot for someone with a better chance at being eligible.

Wishing Pooka the best, but it is a shame that so many quality Louisiana prospects committed last year to a Kansas program that did not seem to offer any signs of success in the future. I know many on here say it was because of the influence of a former N.O. coach on staff at KU, but really, at the end of it all committing and staying committed so long to a program that ended the year with an 1-11 record (and winless against FBS opposition), is on the commits themselves ... and so they can't blame programs like LSU that had a lot of other quality options without the KU drama to deal with.

Serious question:

If he doesn't qualify and goes Juco, wouldn't he be free to go anywhere if he handles his business there? If so, does he have to wait two years or can he re-sign after one?

Yes. I think this is our best option. Signing him after he attends a JUCO.

Kansas is the kind of program that can sign him this year & hope that he qualifies.

Not sure about that. Just guessing here, but it probably has to do with how many classes he takes & if he passes them.

I wonder how updates from Kansas will rank - L Scott to Trey Quinn level?

Grades, grades, grades.....that was the concern for LSU, not his talent. Curry, Provens, Joiner? No doubt Pooka is a talent, but also a grade risk and more than likely JUCO. Good luck Pooka wherever you end up.
