I know you have alot of kids coming from public schools like Grayson but I’m seeing a lot of kids from private schools in Georgia. Is this new phenomenon?

Are these tiny private schools? I’m seeing kids from schools with names like First Baptist Road Christian Academy (made that name up) but it sounds like schools that used to only be a church a few years prior?

T-Bob Hebert came from one of those schools in GA, Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross. It's been going on for a while, but the public HS in GA produce a ton of talent..

When I coached at Athens Academy the high school football powerhouses were located in the southern part of the state in places like Valdosta. As the Atlanta area grew that changed a little and now you see some of the private schools in Atlanta producing some excellent players. Schools like The Lovett School are so wealthy that they are able to recruit at a high level and offer scholarships.

I would think NIL is offering families the opportunity to afford private school now.

Grayson became a factory about 10-15 years ago. Went from growing, little country town to football crazy. Definitely began to change the dynamics of the population. Grayson began blurring the lines of residency. Most notably the Nkemdiche brothers. One RB came from Morrow (south of Atlanta) His dad had an apartment in town put in his name that no one ever lived in. Most of the talent in Ga comes from public schools. The privates are usually super expensive. It’s not like the Catholic schools of La and athletic scholarships. Many powerhouses here are city schools that recruit for sports. Ie- Buford High School. Or, as we call it, Buford University. Occasionally, some of the richy private schools will produce high ranked FB talent. They don’t seem to be as appealing to players as the powerhouse public schools. They do, however, produce a sh*t load of baseball talent.

This…
Additionally, talent will come out of Brookwood/Parkview clusters. As for private/catholic schools, you’ll get the one off talent that you’ve mentioned like Kyle Hamilton out of Marist and our very own T-Bob out of Greater Atlanta Christian

LSU has gotten a number of players from Ga. Some from the Marietta area, which includes Lassiter High. Some might remember the Auburn Tight End, Philip Lutzenkirchen was a student-athlete at Lassiter High School. Also LSU Soccer athlete, Mo Isom graduated from Lassiter.

Don’t forget rams coach Sean McVay from Marist.
Yes. Brookwood, Parkview. Most of Gwinnett county. (I graduated from North)
The Ferguson boys, Paul Mubenga and Vadal Alexander came from Buford city.

It looks like the final sixteen teams in the 7A playoffs last year were all public schools:

Milton
Walton
Camden County
Grayson
Colquitt County
Mill Creek
Carrollton
Buford
Collins Hill
North Gwinnett
McEachern
North Paulding
Westlake
Peachtree Ridge
Valdosta
Norcross

6A had some prominent private schools in the football playoffs. Woodward Academy and Marist made it to the final four.

Yeah I have a friend that graduate from Southern University, her son was in Grayson team. She said it was just so much talent on football team and players transferring in every year. She ended up putting her son in private school but still had talent on private school team.

I went to that 2016 Grayson-IMG game that was on ESPN. IMG won with Dylan Moses, Jahmon Ausbon, Kellen Mond, Grant Delpit 26-7. Grayson then ran off 14 consecutive wins and won 7A. Behind Delpit, I thought Grayson athlete Jamyest Williams was the best on the field. I couldn’t find Dylan Moses with a program and binoculars.

6A private school would be a huge enrollment private school I would think? Unless they play up?

I wouldn’t be mad if we put more time and effort into recruiting in Georgia. So much talent over there.

The private schools out here are moreso known for producing basketball talent than football talent , but hell even the public schools are recruiting out here it’s always been like that

The class sizes changed for 2024, and I have not kept track of who went where. But for 2023,

7A: Greater Atlanta Christian
6A: Blessed Trinity, Marist, St. Pius X, Woodward Academy,
5A:
4A: Benedictine, Holy Innocents, Lovett School, Pace Academy, Trinity Christian, Westminster
