Katy will always be good no matter how many new schools are built because the administration let's them get who they want inside Katy ISD. That's why they are in hot water with the UIL on a regular basis.
They really screwed Paetow the first two years by not sending more students there... protecting Katy HS large enrollment. They have 7 6A schools so Paetow would fit perfectly and have no travel, but they left them hanging as small 5A and they go to College Station, Bryan, Montgomery, Cleveland, Magnolia instead.
But we are derailing this thread as it's supposed to be about North Shore. My fault too...

I didn't know if they were allowed to do that or not.
Katy has not won or even played in the state championship game since 2015. Which is very unusual for them. They were in the championship game in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. They won titles in 2012 and 2015. They have been absent from the game since 2015.

I'll try to explain this so a 4-year old could understand so maybe you can catch on.
First glance - when you look at something and are not expecting or looking to see or find anything of interest. Not even paying attention in some cases.
Example:
I was sitting at a red-light and glanced at one of the trucks in front of me. I look away and then realize it may have been an LSU decal (always cool to randomly see an LSU fan over here). I look back and upon further review realize it is a Katy High sticker and not an LSU sticker.
Hope this newfound knowledge can greatly enrich your life. I am always glad to help the slower people out.

Mater Dei was my favorite team last year.
They looked like an FCS team, not a high school team.
And they have the best uniforms outside of defunct Redemptorist.

The amazing thing about them is they are ranked #4 in the country and had a 5-star and 4-star CB transferring out to graduate early. Not to mention 5-star WR Bru McCoy to graduation.
There are damn college teams that would drop significantly in the rankings if they were losing two 5-star and a 4-star player.

I highly recommend you check out Katy at North Shore during week one in August on ESPNU. It will be epic. Many, many top level kids at North Shore like LSU.

They beat one of the best defenses in the nation last year! Ducanville's secondary had all 4 guys go to major colleges. Ducanville posted 5 shut outs, 6 games allowing 6-7 points, 2 14 point games, and allowed 41 to Northshore.

That is unreal... that is a HIGH SCHOOL team that doesn’t play a single team in their own same state or ANY bordering state.
And MAYBE just one game that could be a bus ride, vs St Joe in NJ.
