Isn't it kind of surprising that we aren't getting any ND kids at all?

I figured one or two of their commits would want to follow the winningest coach in school history and not a coach that has never been a head coach before.

Eh not really since most of the position coaches stayed behind. Although you never know what could happen between now and signing day.

Freeman has a good rapport. Also, it's not over yet.

I think someone said earlier that CBK won’t poach ND commits. But if they decommit, different story.

He left ND to get better athletes.

This argument so dumb. ND has a 5 star committed. Multiple 4 stars.

We’d be lucky to have them.

And I too am upset we haven’t poached any

Kids commit to ND for reasons other than coaches. It’s a great education, family vibe even outside of athletics, and one of the most historic programs of all time. Not to mention they just hired an ace recruiter as head coach and just barely missed the playoffs after being in the last 2 of 3

Disclaimer: I go to ND lol

Only one or two were reasonable possibilities, and many didn’t even really know Kelly in the first place. I think he’s been more personally active in recruiting the last couple of weeks than he has been in years.

Most kids going to ND is because it’s ND.

Right. It’s his assistant coaches who built that program

Kelly had nothing to do with it

I suspect that since they are still playing, it’s too early for any portal players. It would not surprise me if a player enter the portal after bowl game or spring game.

As to recruits, I’d hope that we’d be recruiting any from SEC country even if quietly under the radar.

Not really. Where are you getting this? At his press conference, he just said he was going to focus on current commits first.

Kelly is on the record saying he would not recruit ND commits, Kelly is showing himself to have something only 1% of other coaches, integrity and character. He is recruiting a good uncommitted WDE/OLB that'll be here this weekend, they also retained their whole staff so relax

This is exactly what I said. WTF. He said he was going to focus on our current commits FIRST. He never said he was ONLY going to focus on our current commits and he NEVER said he wasn't going to go after ND commits.

Jeez man. Have some coffee and calm down.

He said it in an interview with Dan Patrick:

quote:

Asked by Patrick if he would recruit current Irish commitments to LSU, and reminded by Patrick that Lincoln Riley in the days since he jettisoned Oklahoma for USC, had done just that very thing, Kelly emphasized he would not operate in that method.

“Of course not, Dan,” Kelly said. “Of course not.

“Well, Lincoln can do what Lincoln wants to do. Brian Kelly is going to do what he does.”

Thanks. I watched that interview. I'll have to go back and rewatch it because I remember him saying if course not, but I thought it was more the way DP phrased the question.

Yeah, this isn't at all what was said.

He was talking to DP about when he took the LSU job. About how he was out recruiting for Notre Dame when he resigned from ND and took the LSU job. Dan jokingly asked him if he then followed up with the recruits to say "hey if you not interested in Notre Dame you can join me at LSU?"

That's when Kelly said of course not and they laughed.

Then DP brought up Riley and Kelly said the quote you cited.

Here's the link and what I'm referencing starts at about the 11 minute mark.

Nothing in that interview is him going on record that he's not going to target ND recruits.
