You really think football players at private schools pay tuition?

Problem is, the rural/ metro split is a bigger pile of crap

Really I've known people in north Louisiana parishes that were supposed to be zoned for one school but because they used a grandparents address or they were allowed to go to school A instead of school B because school A offered classes that school B didn't.

Open enrollment in the parish now. What does this mean?

You can go to any school in the Parish as long as you start your freshman year there. You can also return to your zoned school and not sit out. WM lost basketball players to Ouachita and football players to Neville since this has been put into effect. Some to Sterlington as well. I'm sure they've picked up players from out of their attendance zone as well.
Basically the rules are as even as possible. If anything private schools are at a disadvantage now.

Well since I pay tuition for private school, where is that exemption spot at on my tax forms? No need for me to pay my kids tuition and yours huh?
He failed to mention that not everyone pays taxes either. It would be fair to say that most kids in Urban public schools come from parents who pay NO taxes, so you are paying for your kids AND theirs.

Most do. The more "aggressive" private schools will have a wealthy supporter pick up the tab for exceptional athletes. Some private schools will provide (part time or full time) employment for parents to assist with tuition.

And EVERY public school kid goes for free...

Ummm yes. The overwhelming majority do. Probably in the neighborhood of 99% of kids at private schools who play football pay tuition.

Will John Curtis still have to play against the 5a teams?? If not that's garbage. They should have been playing 5A since 1991!!

How can you say they can't when they do as we speak.
they can't do it nearly as much as private schools can, besides what do they have to offer. Don't Private schools offer scholarships? The split is a much fairer system and I don't see why anyone would be against it other than the private schools who want the advantage they get given back to them.

Texas splits their public and private states championships too. It is not uncommon.

Well that would be one way to even it back out somewhat is if private schools couldn't offer athletes scholarships or reduced tuition or financial aid and if public schools would have open borders then I could see not having a split. Anything short of that you need to have a split championship.

Still legit. Catholic beat the top seeds anyway.
Catholic lost to 3A Parkview in week 1.
Zachary in Week 3.
And blown out week by Dutchtown 42-7 Week 9.
Played three games to total in the playoffs.
LEGIT???

quote:yes it sucked, my sophomore year in high school in 2A we beat everyone by 21+ and we weres 12-0 heading into game vs John Curtis. Lost something like 34-16..... JC vs Evangel played in the title that year and JC beat them by 40. If it wasn't for those two schools we could've actually had a real shot at winning it all.
Oh whatever class JC and Evangel were in right?

Catholic beat Brother Martin / Evangel / and nationally ranked Rummel to win the state title. They hit their stride at the right time. Can't diminish what they did when it mattered. And the second half of Brother Martin game and the entire Evangel game they were without their best player in Edwards-Helaire.
LSU lost to Kentucky and Arkansas in 2007 and only played one game in the "playoffs"!! Legit?!?
