Silsbee (Texas) four-star athlete Dre’lon Miller told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 13 that LSU and Texas A&M were “battling for the top spot.” According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, one of those programs now has a commanding lead for his commitment.

The Tigers’ odds to land Miller are now at 86.3%. That is following an expert prediction from On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman.

Miller has an offer to play both football and basketball at LSU. He has visited Baton Rouge multiple times, most recently on March 6.

“Coach (Cortez) Hankton is cool and I really like him and Coach (Brian) Kelly,” Miller shared with Simmons. “They make me feel at home over there. Coach Hankton played with my dad in college, so we have that type of relationship and that connection helps a little. My dad knows if I went there that I would be in good hands.

“Coach Kelly is doing a great job with the program. He quickly turned things around. When I was there a few days ago, they let me know that they want me. They want to move me around and get me the ball.”

Considering Hankton is recruiting him and he says Kelly and Hankton told him they want to get him the ball all over the field I would assume it's WR.

More than likely going to be a dual sport guy. It's only a matter of time.

I don't expect him to play basketball, but if he did, he would make it work. He is a crazy good athlete and he's smart enough to be able to miss some basketball stuff and pick it up as he goes.

Julius Peppers did it at UNC. It would be tough but I imagine it can be done with the support they get.

Recruiting Tx hard has to be one of the smarter things any LSU coach could do

The footprint is growing. DFW, Houston and East Texas. So much talent to go around.

Beaumont/Port Arthur is closer to Baton Rouge than to Austin and I know we have several highly recruited prospects from here in basketball and football every year. There should be no reason a vast majority of them don’t get reeled in. Until recently, LSU didn’t really recruit this area much in any sport. It’s mind boggling.

You're exactly right. #1 player in Texas for next year currently is from PA.

Sat next to his dad at the baseball game today (Dre'lon was about 3 people down). Couldn't have been nicer or prouder of Dre'lon. Showed me several pics from his photo session with the football and basketball jerseys on. Tried my best to get him over to the purple and gold. Overall seemed like a good dude. Super personable and interested in the baseball team. I know....CSB
