Born, I know you are more familiar than most on some of the recruiting tactics AU has been trying to do. you think the stuff Auburn's been doing is bad enough that the NCAA won't ignore it?

Yep during the NC Game-after game celebration Chiz....looked like something would be shoved up his anus in the future. Did not look completely engulfed with happiness.

Anyone else notice that?

Also when Cam spoke after the game, Chiz looked irratated.

I know trovon reed was supposed to be hurt or whatever....but was he hurt like Akiem Hicks was "hurt" in 2009, where you are really just sitting him to avoid playing an ineligible player? Reed's injury's never sounded serious, and AU was talking him up like he was percy harvin before the season. Didnt really add up.

I live in Alabama so I don't know much about local La. highschools, but the latest quote from Lorio didn't exactly fill me with confidence that NCAA had found anything concrete. Any posters here have friends/family in the area that might be able to shed a little more light on the situation?

Yeah, I read that, but since then he has been quoted as saying.

"Do I believe that Auburn has done anything wrong with their recruiting? My answer has been no,”

I don't think he really believes that, nor do I think that Auburn has been clean (y'all had a poster on here that knew Lache Seastrunk that gave some pretty damning inside info.)

I was just wondering what the locals might know or be talking about.

I think the worst thing I wrote about AU was that they were recruiting "SMU Style" IMO. Not sure if that was damning enough to get investigated by the NCAA. Although I mentioned it long before anybody outside of the AU inner circle knew what they were doing.

I can tell you that without a doubt that Matt Davis is in NO WAY associated with William Lyles. The ONLY people who are involved in his recruiting process are his parents and his high school coaches when recruiters visit the campus.

Lots of LSU fans seem to know a lot about the inner workings of the Auburn football program.

His comments about Greg being inconsistent was rough. I mean that was an eye opener.

He was much better his junior year. I bet Greg was pissed when he read that.

Also if stuff like this keeps circulating someone will find something. its only a matter of time before a lie gets caught or someone folds.

The kid from SMU got mad and snitched. I think the kids that switched back to Bama on signing day should be interviewed. I bet they know some dirt.

fwiw, I think I've seen Chizik smile maybe twice since he's been at Auburn.

As for Reed, he did actually get in on a few plays, but his knee was too sore for him to actually make an impact. If there was any worry about him being ineligible, they wouldn't have played him. He's going to get a medical redshirt for his knee as far as I know.

Here is a statement released by Lorio that was posted on the Sports by Brooks blog today.

There have some questions lately about events of the recent year. I would like to clarify what facts I am aware of. Sometimes media members take information and try to paint a picture which may or may not be accurate. They only provide the information they want the reader to see. The points I believe were most crucial are below.

1. During the recent NCAA questioning the most relevant question asked to me was “Do I think Auburn had done anything illegal in recruiting the two players from Thibodaux High.” A Thibodaux High administrator was present and will verify that my answer was, “I am not aware of anything illegal during their recruitment process.”

Last year I personally visited with Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper and liked and respected both of them. Later Gus Malzahn came by and we were very impressed with him also. Gene Chizek also came by before 2010 signing day and was impressive.

This year I only saw Trooper Taylor during our Destrehan game week 2. During the rest of the year I did not see any other Auburn coach which is no problem. Last month I texted Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper on championship Monday evening to wish them luck and keep the National Championship in the SEC.

Both replied and thanked me for the thought.

2. Trovon Reed and Greg Robinson both were offered scholarships by many colleges including LSU, and both made tough final decisions. All over the country it is common for many top recruits to stay in state. In the end they both chose Auburn University for their quality football program, academic opportunities, and the chance to see a different part of the country.

Although many top players choose to attend the successful in-state colleges, some chose to attend school away from home for a variety of reasons. It is not surprising for them to be attracted to a rising program like Auburn who just earned a national championship.

3. Greg Robinson is a good young man who has a chance to be an outstanding college player. His parents are good people who want the best for him. Many knew that Greg put information about getting a new cell phone on his Facebook page. Some players and coaches talked about Greg showing something in his pocket to other students which I never saw.

4. I recently texted Curtis Luper and Trooper Taylor to congratulate them on the NC and asked them to do their best to ensure that Trovon and Greg get their degrees and have successful careers. Curtis Luper replied, “We will take great care of your young men.”

5. Lastly, my perception is that most of the NCAA questions to me were centered on 7 on 7 tournaments and combines which the Thibodaux High coaches had no involvement in and very little knowledge about. Most of these events happen in the summer or on weekends so we don’t know the details about those events.

Well duh! They're only looking into STREET AGENTS. The ncaa could care less which schools paid these street agents to sign with them. Didn't you learn anything from the Albert Means case we had? They didn't care that it was Bama that paid a guy to direct a kid, they were only after the guy that got paid!

Yes, LSU fans have no clue about the recruitment by Auburn of an LA recruit in an LA town full of LSU fans and one greasy AU fan.

Stolen from ATPB, we have been working on this a while,

Could be interesting to piece together a list of all the N4P organizations and questionable associations the Auburn "recruiting board" the last couple of years (inclusive on the sketchy dealings with Cyrus K.)

Cam Newton -Bishop Cecil Newton -Holy Zion
Trovon Reed - Sean Nelson - Total Package
Greg Robinson- Sean Neson - Total Package
Dakota Mosely- Walt Williams-Pinnacle Preps (ark)
Michael Dyer- Walt Williams-Pinnacle Preps
Kiel Fraiser- Walt Williams- Pinnacle Preps
Cyrus K. - Anthony Page DeMatha Frosh Coach agent- Perennial Sports

Also some rumblings about the recruitment of Gabe Wright, and anoher group in Houston. Anything on this?

It does appear the investigation is being directed towards "street agents" such as Nelson.

I think it was Roaad who said it, but I agree with the fact that Nelson might be given a "Do not contact" label by the end of this.
