Every 1-3 years there's an instate guy that LSU "can't miss" and leads to melts even if he does end up at LSU. #5for5 was built up like 5 can't miss players and that made for an even more epic melt when it fell apart.

I don't think there were any real expectations of McKnight coming to LSU. Ole Miss w/Coach O made a late push. But he was pretty much all USC.
Ryan Perriloux and Kendal Williams probably generarated most traffic before there was an actual recruiting board.
5 for 5 probably generated most traffic.
Ruben Randle entire recruitment generated a lot of attention because of DMitch, while never tipping off where Ruben was going gave a lot of us insight to the recruiting process.

I remember late drama with RR for sure. I wasn't really certain he was going to sign.
