My point was that "hard work" and "busting your butt" doesn't mean you magically get playing time because you worked hard. That is the same logic that makes people think a QB will automatically get better because they have another year of experience. A lot more goes into actually playing D1 football than just "working hard".
It seems like someone was in this kid's ear and he may already have a landing spot.

All that aside, what I don't understand is why you wouldn't want to wait till after the bowl game so you can advertise yourself for the next team is beyond me.
Or in today's parlance why would you pass up a chance to "enhance your brand" in the bowl game. It isn't going to enhance itself; the portal isn't the MLS for football. It is a very very long list of names and if you don't stick out you get sucked under.

Bad for depth but makes it even more appealing for Austin to stay put, Harris to make it official, and Ricks to jump on board. That crew with Toviano and Welch is absolutely loaded with talent. Thin. But loaded.
