Miles was asked if Benton had a scholarship offer as of this morning, and Miles hesitated, then said no.

i am a Miles fan and love LSU.. but that is just bullshite.. you cant ditch a kid who has wanted to go to school here for 3 years and has worked his arse off to get here for a kid of similar talent that is wavering.. Im glad we got Randle, but i think he would have come to LSU anyway... I am interested to hear Coach Bradshaw's comments since he has worked tirelessly with Benton to get him to LSU.. Bastrop is not a bridge you want to burn..

agreed...

I have a problem with kids backing out of their commitment at the last minute, regardless of their reason....I also have a problem with pulling an offer at the last minute...regardless of the reason....

as far as I am concerned, a promise is a promise....

That's all the elaboration I needed.... I agree.

If Auburn waits 2 years for Benton to be qualified (like we did)he'll be 24 years old before he plays his first offensive play. Miles had a decision to make and I believe he made the right choice. Benton hasn't played competitively for 2 years. I wonder what kind of shape he will be in?? I wish the kid well, but the bottom line is: he didn't take care of business. Why blame Les for this??

So what would you do in Les' situation?

I do believe Les'honorable, but he could have been looking at not getting RR and signing a guy who we've been waiting for, but who has known academic eligibility problems and, from what I understand, didn't even see the field last year. That would've been a risk IMO.

he was the #1 rated prep player out of Hargrave in 2007, id say he is still an ok receiver

Welcome to LSU, Reuben Randle. Good decision, Les Miles. Good decision, RR.

That's a very narrowminded view.

Miles was put in a no win situation...one that Benton was partially responsible for (who knows what the reasons are that Randle couldn't coexist with him).

So, it was laid out for him that he couldn't be loyal to both Randle and Benton. He had to choose. So, he made the best decision he could given the circumstances.

Well seems obvious that les asked benton to go elsewhere because of randles fathers statements yesterday. I know I'd be the same as yall with crimson glasses and not me mad, but from the outside looking in, I'd be a little pissed at either miles for lying to thr randles and pissing them off, or the randles for making a big show of this instead of just handling it behind the scenes by calling up miles instead of throwing a fit on the radio.

Nobody is arguing his ability as a receiver. He just hasn't had any repetition for 2 YEARS. If he's as good as they say he is, he should be an LSU Tiger not an Aubarn Tiger. He had every chance to come here; the blame is on BENTON not Miles.

Two way street. LSU has nursed Benton along for three years also. Yet, that same kid feels the need to go fishing. I can understand if Benton was fresh out of high school and wanted to look around. But, this guy was three years out of high school. What is the reason for the official visit to Auburn?

It was a no win situation for everyone involved.

Any logical person (you may not be included) can understand that there was no answer that would have worked out perfectly.

Randle's father decided he had to respond to rumors that came public last night. Miles was thrown into the middle of this situation and had to make a decision. There was no way LSU was landing both. And for whatever issues are between Randle and Benton, Benton certainly shares at least part of that responsibility.

In a perfect world, LSU lands both. It just wasn't a possiblity. Personally, I'm damn impressed that Miles was able to react and close on Randle given the craziness and uncertainty from just last night. That was a major curveball at the 11th hour and he handled it better than I think any coach in America. He made a tough choice, did what he thought was best, and then was man enough to address it afterwards.

I agree money, it was a tough situation for everyone involved, I just know if it it was my team I would have wished it was handled behind the scenes, but that's not the way it always goes. Hard choice by miles, I think the randles should have called before going national with it, I kinda feel bad for benton, but then again I don't because he had mulitple opportunities to end up at lsu. I think miles made the right choice, but if I was yall I would have wished it had not been so public.

i mis-spoke previously and asked why benton thought he was coming here last night...this is with regards to the "he was a silent commit to AU" comments. obviously there was some serious miscommunications if that was true
