Miles Leaving - Effect on Recruiting

Would it be better for this year's recruiting for Miles to get fired now, get fired at the end of the season, or stay at LSU?

If Miles leaves, then so does Frank Wilson and Billy Gonzales. If that happens, this class goes to complete crap, regardless of who we hire.
Players and their parents LOVE Miles and they LOVE Wilson. They could possibly salvage this class by keeping Wilson, but holding onto coaches in college usually doesn't happen

It would be a shame to lose Wilson. I would also like to keep Gonzales (see what he can truly do) and Joe Rob has been solid with special teams.
That being said, the most likely option I see at this point is Crowton being let go at the end of the season with Miles still around. Not saying that is what I would like, just what I see at this point.

Why is it a given that Frank Wilson would leave? I think the powers that be at LSU understand how important keeping him on staff is to keeping this class together. Same goes for the defensive staff - Chavis, Cooper, Haley...you would bring in a coach who is amenable to keeping those guys in house.

I think anyone who would come in would at least keep Wilson on the staff...he's that valuable...especially if we got someone who's not familiar with La.

Miles isn't going any where. 5-0 with three really shitty teams left on our schedule. Ole miss would be 0-5 rt now if they had our schedule.
If we bring in a coach who keeps the staff in tact then he will be a nobody. No big time coach is going to keep an entire staff of a team that did poorly enough to fire a head coach that won a national title. Sorry keep dreaming. Our best bet is to keep everyone, but crowton on staff. Crowton doesn't recruit anyway.

If les and his staff are fired everyone can say bye bye to the top talent in this class.
you cant do that to a new coach. he would want to bring in his own coaches. if we would hire a defensive coach he would not keep chavis.

that's why you don't hire someone without going over what he would want to do.

When will it end? At 5-0, Miles is more likely right now to get a new extension than be fired.
A better question is: how will Crowton's now inevitable firing affect recruiting? My guess is not very much at all, since Crowton doesn't seem to be very involved in recruiting. In fact, any new OC that we bring in is likely to be a better recruiter than Crowton, so it is likely to help our recruiting. The only possible negative is if we brought in an OC well known for a specific offensive scheme, and some of our recruits didn't think they would fit into that scheme very well.

No head coach would want to come into a situation where he is already told who he has to keep from the old coaching staff, especially the caliber of coaches who would come to coach at LSU

Exactly. any coach worth his salt will want total control. We are not a head coach away from winning it all. We are solid qb play away. And if I have to wait next season to get a new oc and or qb then I'll wait. I'm not ready to fire Les miles when I know we are winning at least 9 games this year.
Plus I have zero faith in our AD.

I've thought about this. As much as I'd like to keep Chavis' staff & Wilson, a new coach wouldn't do that. So, get rid of Miles means lose top class. Keep Miles & class, but be prepared for the same shite every year.

Miles is staying and so is Wilson and Gonzo.

Why start a thread of this type of speculation. Les isn't going to be fired to quit unless something MAJOR happens. Wishful thinking aside, the guy and his staff can recruit, particularly defensively.

do you guys not understand that the cost of Miles contract would be prohibitive?
and while you may daydream of Gruden leaving ESPN, he actually was signed to a multi year multi million dollar deal that no college team can approach WHEN IT WAS CONSIDERED that he might go to Notre Dame.

I thnk losing the OL and DL class would be horrible for our program.

+1
How do you fire the coach with the best winning percentage in the program's history.
Miles is a bad arse recruiter. If we had a QB, everything would be gret.
