Playing behind the worst O line in the SEC, against the best defenses in the SEC?

Does this mean Hurley's out the door? How's that to play out?

Time will tell.. Seems to be indicative of how the staff feels about Hurley

Why do people say this? Says nothing about Hurley. Bring in a QB every season regardless.

Yes he is. His stats don’t reflect it due to having the worst o line in the SEC and getting sacked a lot because of it

Damn, that is freaking crazy! That kid actually looked decent at Miss St despite having no chance vs top teams, inexperience, and a first year HC. Go watch him vs UGA. He was a true freshman. This gives us an experienced backup and talented guy to compete with Hurley.

From the coaches perspective, yes.. If you are a kid like Van Buren who just started an entire season, you aren’t transferring to COMPETE for the back up spot unless someone has made you feel like it’s yours

Well, 69 attempts for -12 yards last year (YPC -0.17). Sure, sacks count against rushing yards in college, but those numbers do NOT indicate that he's a big threat to run.

Love that he gets to come here for a season to watch, learn and get better. Then take over in 2026 with starting SEC experience — at Texas, at UGA, at Ole Miss

Watch? The best player should play, if he's better than the other guy he will.

Was potentially bringing in Underwood indicative of how the staff felt about Hurley? This is just to replace Underwood as the one QB they bring in this year.

That had nothing do with Hurley and more about how good Underwood is.. Kind of an apples to oranges comparison. Nobody on this board was talking about Hurley ever playing over Underwood, were they??

He has negative yards rushing in the season and you think he’s mobile? Your seem smarter if you said nothing at all.
he had 69 carries for -12 yards. Nuss had 33 carries for -45 yards. Van Buren had over twice as many carries, yet lost almost 4 times LESS yardage than Nuss.

It's obvious that if he runs the read option here, he will run. He will take a wide open rush lane. Im not saying he's a dual threat, but im pretty sure he's more mobile.

So if they didn’t have a commitment from Underwood, you don’t think they would have recruited a QB this year? You have to take a QB every year because you never know who is or is not going to develop. All this says is that Hurley isn’t a sure fire QB1 yet. It doesn’t mean he’ll never be one or that the staff doesn’t think he can develop. They just can’t sit back and hope that he does. They have to have options.

Hopefully we can use him in the red zone this year too as a running threat.

5 Star out of HS, committed to Oregon for a long time.

Didn’t realize this but definitely not surprised. Watched him play a couple of times this year and was very impressed.

No shite.. All I said is that it seems to indicate some doubt with how the staff feels about Hurley being ready to be the #2 next season.. Which you pretty much just agreed with lol

Wonder if we can get his teammate Mario Craver out of the portal too who was his WR2 and a true freshman this season also

It’s longer term than that. If they were only looking at next season, they’d probably just stick with Swann or bring in an upperclassman. This is about a potential QB1 in 2026 and beyond.
