You have so many excuses for why you don't believe in CMM its hilarious.
How many games next year fall on full moons as compared to this year? The gravitational pull may affect shooting.
This past season was a leap year, no telling how that extra day of wear and tear affects the returning players.
Also the season is going to start right around election time. Talk about distractions. No way they can focus on basketball.

As in the number 1 seeds?
Your disbelief in CMM has you talking nonsense.
They literally do a segment on ESPN every year around tourney time where they list all the teams on the bubble and then tier them as "Last 4 in", "First 4 out", and "Next 4 out". ALL 12 teams are on the bubble.

I won't consider the season a failure if they are in the 1st 4 out or something like that.
No one is saying you should think that. But to act like expecting anything more than that is unreasonable is ridiculous.

Just to let you know, the ultimate goal for the program is the compete in the top 5 spots in the SEC consistently. So "making the bubble", while nice, doesn't excite me too much. If we are a top 5 SEC program we are solidly in and looking to make Sweet 16 and Elite 8 runs.
Getting to that point will take 2-3 more years, not next year. But we are heading in that direction.

Does anyone have an update on the roster and who we are going after it seems really quiet? I think we got 1 scholarship left to finish up the roster? Positions of need are wing and center.

We have one scholarship and 1 additional spot open, Toby Okani is on campus today and tomorrow.
Posted on 4/19/24 at 1:07 pm to LSUFan2700
At the moment:
1. Jordan Sears (PG)
2. Cam Carter (SG)
3. Mike Williams III (CG)
4. Curtis Givins III (PG)
5. Vyktorius Miller (SG)
6. Tyrell Ward (SF)
7. Jalen Reed (PF)
8. Corey Chest (PF)
9. Derek Fountain (PF)
10. Damion Collins (C)
11. Robert Miller III (PF / C)
12. (OPEN)
13. (LOST DUE TO PUNISHMENT)
So one more scholarship left, unless someone is a silent walk on.

What does "1 additional spot open" mean?
I didn't think that there was a stated limit on the number of players on the roster, just the number of scholarships allowed.
I thought that we were limited to 12 scholarship players for the 24-25 season but could have as many players as walk ons as we wanted.
Are you suggesting that we are trying to get a 13th player as a NIL reimbursed position?

Im guessing we get a backup wing behind Ward?

Been thinking the same thing. Really biased towards Wesley Yates because of my connections with him, but I'm not sure we take a chance.

It seems like McMahon prefers to add a wing due to his pursuit of Tobi Okani. It doesn’t sound like the staff has any other visitors lined up right now based off publicly available information.
If they miss on Okani, I wonder if they just try to take the best wing/center available.

You have intel on Yates? I know LSU was runner up in his recruitment

Yeah sort of, there's mutual interest I know, which I'm sure is nothing new because he would've been a Tiger had it not been for his uncle on the UW staff. His family keeps it very quiet, and not even his best friends that I coached, have a clue what he's doing.

What are the chances he ends up at LSU? Like percentage chances?
Posted on 4/19/24 at 3:23 pm to LSUFan2700
I would be shocked if he doesn't visit again. During his recruitment out of High School, he was in BR a lot. We are a short drive, so I would think chances are really good. His old high school teammate, who I coached, is currently at Houston and they would actually be my favorite for him if they weren't returning a lot of guards/wings. I think he's ours if we want him. Just don't know we would take a "risk" on a kid that hasn't played a college game yet over a kid that's produced at some level.
I'd say 40%, just my opinion.

I'd say if LSU only has one scholarship left they aren't going to use it on Yates unless their is no other option. He's an unproven and inexperienced player coming off a season ending injury. He may be an intriguing prospect, but LSU likely needs more frontcourt help for next year than they do an inexperienced SG. That would be the higher priority. Now, if they have 2 spots to give there may be one available for him.

I agree that we need another wing who can defend on the perimeter, but if Yates wants to be here find a spot for him.
Having Yates, Chest, Miller, Miller, and Givens all with 4 years of eligibility is too good to pass up in my opinion.

I think it’s more confidence in Reed at the 5. He is a big body to set picks, he’s pretty good around the rim and he can shoot the 3. Collins is going to play in more of a “dunker spot”/backside lob/knock down the occasional jumper on offense. I’m not sure at 190lbs he’s going to be very effective in the focal point of our offense. I hope to be wrong about that. Would love to be able to slide Collins to the 5, Ward at the 4, and Sears/Carter/Williams guard combo to run and gun a little.
We will definitely be able to mix it up this year schematically.
