I guess it’s a good sign we haven’t seen more losses to the portal? I know we need an infusion of talent, but I also think we need to retain some continuity and see if the young guys can take a step up.

Brune reporting that we had a visitor in yesterday but the program is keeping everything on the low.

McMahon has been good at retaining his players for at least 2 years. Ward and Reed both stayed after an awful year 1. Chest and Williams stayed after year 1 where Chest was red-shirted.

R. Miller is an LSU legacy an the only guy who got noticeably better as the season went on. Not surprised he's staying. Same for Givens who, McMahon clearly wants to be his PG, and who probably wouldn't have a robust market in the portal. Vyctorious Miller was/is the wildcard. He would definitely be in demand if he entered the portal. Keeping him would be the only "unexpected" victory.

Man I knew these teams were loaded with transfers but doing this was eye opening. McMahon better get to work in the portal. It's the only way. Most of these kids are from smaller schools. It's all about talent evaluation and how they fit your scheme/identity. Makes no sense for LSU to develop 3 or 4 stars from high school recruiting. I'm not saying to abandon high school recruiting but a lot of our money needs to be in the portal.

Yeah but the word is out who wants to come play for a butt lick coach, that's why he can't get the best players on some of these teams!

I think the other big thing is looking at where they come from. We have people bemoaning about non-P5 transfers we are looking at. 24 of the 55 on the list are from below p4. Transfers from P4 schools and non-transfers are the same.

44% are from non P4
29% from P4
27% non transfer

I will say the P4 numbers are probably skewed a bit by the Calipari move.

If its him, he averaged 6 point with 4.5 rebounds in about 15 minutes last year.

I don’t have any sources but saw a couple Mississippi state guys say LSU. Would fit the bill as a cheaper Corey Chest and let us spend Chest money on guards

Holy hell, great post. Blows my continuity theory out the water. Hit the portal, coach! More evidence that a turnaround can/should happen fast if a coach knows what he’s doing.

Nothing yet on visits besides that mystery visit we just hosted.

And apparently it’s NC state and Will Wade involved with Nwoko. Haven’t heard anything about us.
