Most of you have probably never been to Texas and/or Austin. Most of you are basing this on Orangebloods.com, which is stupid.

I've been. And many of my good friends are from Houston. I actually really like every person that I know from Houston that went to LSU. This isn't an indictment against folks in the state of Texas. State pride is not a problem I have with anyone.

But the arrogance portrayed by Texas fans cannot be matched by any fanbase. We are privy to your continued insults against everything in our state. We know we have problems here and there are things that I wish could change. But I also love Louisiana and LSU and don't feel a need to criticize Texas because of some deep seeded inferiority complex.

Aside from a few posters on OB, many point to the reason that Mack Brown won't recruit LA kids is because "they all want $$$" or because "they are academically inferior to kids that we recruit." Then someone posts about Applewhite or Chase Pittman or Hester or Gieger, etc. and they resort to saying that private schools kids are different in LA. It's laughable. I have never heard a fanbase talk about the quality of character and then turn around and lower themselves in their efforts to talk badly about LSU and our state. It's so pathetic and so easily visible that someone acting oblivious to this is naive.

Houston's fun if you like concrete, mexican restaurants, and oil companies.

Dallas is OK if you like snooty girls who marry rich and don't consider you worth talking to if you don't drive the newest BMW/Benz available.

Austin if fun if you like hippies and, as has been discussed previously, unwarranted Texas pride.

San Antonio is cool if you like....well....Mexico.

There has been a misconception about the current Austin. I saw more blazer wearing d-bags than I've seen anywhere in a long time while I was there. It's like Athens, GA in that sense. It used to be a hippie town that has sense become inundated with snobby douches that wear a blazer with dark dark 150 dollar jeans and nice shoes. Austin has some very cool stuff going on and I like the town but there is a misconception about what Austin once was and what it currently is. I guess that is the price you pay for economic success in your city: you end up seeing guys that are better left to waste away in Dallas.

I wouldnt describe Houston as fun. As far as job opportunities it kicks the shite out of Louisiana. But, the people and culture of Louisiana are head and shoulders better than anything in Texas. Fort Worth is a pretty cool town I must say.

The job market in Houston kicks the shite out of just about every major city in the country. Especially the way oil continues to spike.

Im from Connecticut, and the overall sense of entitlement is significantly lower than Texas.....really really strange.

However, my two best friends and roomates are from Dallas, my girl is from Houston, and alot of my good friends are Texans, some of the coolest people I know are people from Texas that go to LSU. I am specifically talking about UT when I bash "texas".

I like Texas and Texas fans. There are some very cool Texas people who don't bash us, and go to Texas School's like UT, TCU and A&M.

I saw someone else post it, and I agree. We are not perfect in this state, and neither is any person in Texas. Both fan bases have alot pride in their schools, I am pretty damn sure USC (Southern Cal) fans bash both of our schools.

LSU is very dedicated right now to improving their academics, when I applied to LSU in 99' they still implemented a sliding scale for acceptance. I believe now you have to have a 3.0 or better it I am not mistaken and at least a 24 ACT? I might be wrong. But I have been impressed with how they improving their academics.

LSU's academics have made DRASTIC improvements over the last few years

In fact, it wouldn't shock me at all if we are one of the most improved major universities

How far is LSU from being a top tier university? I thought we were getting pretty close.

Yeah agreed LSU has improved so much. There are certain areas where LSU is already better than Texas, actually...like Mass Communications, for instance.
