LINK

This situation seems comparable to Matt Barkley's senior stats in high school. He threw for 23 tds and 18 ints and had a 54.7% completion percentage. That's not great, especially at a school like Mater Dei; however, he ended up being a solid college quarterback who was drafted in the fourth round and is still a backup QB in the NFL. I'm not saying that Max Johnson will be better or worse than Barkley but its just an example to show that senior stats don't always tell the whole story.

The link is for his career stats but you can choose his senior year to view those numbers.

I didn’t mean to imply that Max had any of the attributes that I mentioned. I was just stating that those are the attributes needed in a quarterback in this day and age in this and most modern college offenses.

I have to disagree. Arm strength is fine. It is consistency with his accuracy. Get him college coaching and training and surround him all the time with legit WRs and then let's re-evaluate once he is on campus.

Is that why our QB problems have been so bad for so damn long?

Have you ever watched video's of this guy play. If you have then you would see that he constantly had less than 3 seconds to throw the ball. He was constantly under pressure within 2 seconds of the snap of the ball. It's AMAZING he actually was able to complete 35 percent of his fricking passes! I CANNOT wait to see what this guy can do when he has 4 seconds to throw the ball.

Holstein isn’t a transfer. He is 14 and entering 9th grade.

Was he at Zachary Middle Schools?

I'm certain he wasn't. I call that a transfer in my book.

I trust the coaching staff. LSU is trending up. Just need some more lineman.

Giving HS QBs a trajectory to the NFL is such a guessing game.

IMO, scouts underplay the mental game and get fixated on the physical side, i.e., recovering from mistakes, road environments, rigors of of an SEC schedule.

Max is from a football family. Unless he's rushed into duty before he's ready, I think he'll be an excellent QB for us.

But your "book" is idiotic. There's no transfer when beginning highschool LHSAA. That's Highschool Association. And what's your problem with a 14 yr old kid? I get it if he just took your kid's spot, but man that is pretty weak coming down on a 9th grader.

Maybe that was a mistake

He transferred to Ponchatoula because he didn’t play as a freshman at STA, and the Ponchatoula coach changed his entire offense to fit Finley. Plus, from what I’ve heard, they just aren’t that talented.

I graduated from Ponchatoula and still talk to quite a few people who live there. It really is a crazy mix of opinions on this kid. Some think he will be great while plenty of others think he will be a huge bust.

Either way, the guy I responded to is talking shite about a kid who’s going to Zachary as a freshman but wants to talk about Finley’s loyalty? That makes no sense.

Did he? I must have misunderstood why he transferred when they told me. Makes the loyalty angle a little stranger then.

As someone who lives 1/4 mile from OCHS and the stadium he plays in.

This is correct. OCHS had a lot of issues last year. A LOT....

Troy Aikman ran a 4.7 at basically the same size coming out of UCLA.
