This is not a troll - this shite is awesome.
I read the OP that he was on a commercial passenger airplane with Jones, not a PJ.
But maybe I'm wrong.
I sat across the aisle from Jay Johnson on the way to California a couple years ago out of New Orleans. Regular old plane.

Just picture Jay’s feet dangling in the air
It’d be great to land Spears but doesn’t seem likely.
His most recent interview basically said he likes the environment at LSU but is going to college for the “coaching”

Maybe he was a good passer, he just refused to do it.
have you ever watched him? He could have averaged 5 more points a game if he was more assertive. He could have had way more assist if other players on that team werent bad bad at times.
Yall really never watched good basketball in your life

This is so true about his time at LSU. He'd make insane passes his teammates couldn't handle or capitalize on. Probably should've averaged a triple double at LSU.
I think his shooting yips are one of the biggest "what ifs" in basketball history. He was an elite defender in the NBA, a 6'10" point forward, could pass and rebound very well, but absolutely lost his mind when it came to shooting.
He also didn't have the drive to work on it in the pros once he became filthy rich.

I sometimes wonder how his career would have gone, if he went to a place like Duke and played for coach K. Would that have gotten him over the hump a little more? I know some of his issues came in NBA but I can't sit here and think a better college coach would have elevated him and his teammates elevate him had they not been a few head cases around him.
I loved early Tim Quarterman but he changed over his time.

You are the whiniest, most emotional poster we’ve ever seen on this board. I feel bad for you

Just flying home from a business trip and he walks to the gate in DFW heading home too!

That is correct...he actually sat in 18C behind me! Lol

In '98, I took a 30 person passenger jet from Shreveport to Memphis and Jack Binion sat next to me. He said he had to make a meeting and it was the only thing available to get him there in time. He was a cool dude. He convinced me this chick was checking me out and to say hi.

If anything he would've had even less asked of him while in college since that Duke team had Ingram, Luke Kennard, and Grayson Allen. He would've drove and dished nonstop, they would've made the final 4, and he still would've been fricked up about shooting the ball.

I was walking out of the horseshoe Casino in Shreveport about 5 o’clock one morning and saw a well-dressed guy walking towards me. I realized it was Jack Binion. He stopped and talked to me. I wish I could remember the details of our conversation, but that’s been many years. He made an impression on me. He couldn’t have been nicer. One of those people that just seemed to love being alive.

You're going to have to find another acronym for the basketball coach. JJ is dedicated to our baseball coach...
Coach Johnny
Coach Jones
Mr. Jones

Yes, I have watched good basketball and good basketball at LSU, just not during the Simmons' years. I just remember all those times watching him go 1 on 3 or 1 on 4 instead of waiting for his teammates or just giving up the ball and staying outside not getting involved (usually at the end of games). The man was the finest brick mason ever on campus and so frustrating to watch.

Ben Simmons was a 56% shooter. I wonder if you realize how elite that is for someone that’s scoring 20ppg lol
Posted on 5/2/26 at 11:43 am to Lester Earl
56% shooter yes, most of his made shots were layups. From beyond 10 feet it was probably more like 30%. I may have had a better outside shot and that's just sad
Posted on 5/2/26 at 12:10 pm to Tigershine
He never shot outside. Thats why he shot 56%. He was unstoppable

Gotta be the first person to ever complain about Ben Simmons not passing enough. Some people must watch games with blindfolds on.
