Many, LA - Historically has this high school put out very many high profile athletes?

They had a 4 star LB last year that I believe that went to USC and now another 4 star LB this year. That's pretty impressive, especially for a school that small.
Many has about 2000 people and the entire parish has 22k.

As I understand it. all the public high school students who want to play football in Sabine parish play for Many because they are the only high school in the parish that offers football as a sport.

They are a 2a school pulling from the entire parish bc they are the only team offering football. Not that hard to be dominant. The same school that scram and hollered for the public/private split now basically cherry picks from who they want from the parish to fill out a 2a squad.

Why wasn't Many forced to move up to 4A or 5A?

Bc all those kids from other schools that play there don’t count against their enrollment bc they don’t go to school there. So they have 2a enrollment and get to choose from a population of 22,500 when most 2a schools had a population of 5k or so.

Wasn't Evangel forced to play 5A when they were recruiting in the 90's?

Doesn’t work that way anymore

I thought it was by choice, not necessarily forced.

Interesting. Saying that, I've never heard of Many until last year.

You have no idea of what you are talking about,so let me break it down to you. Many is the only school in the parish that has a football team,so if I kid desires to play a sport his current school doesn't offer (football), that student can go to many and play but he also attends school there.

True, but I spoke with a Many coach not long ago and he said they don't usually have more than a couple of players from outside the Many HS district. So, not much of an advantage.
Maybe coaching had something to do with it. We'll see how the new guy does.
Incidentally, four-stars in consecutive years is an outlier. They don't produce a lot of college-level players and most wind up in places like Northwestern.

They certainly do go to school there. You must think Tylen Singleton attends Ebarb High then drives to Many for football practice.

I’d say that’s true of all but the largest public schools in Louisiana and probably true of even those, just substitute the closest non P5 FBS/FCS school.

What I’m wondering is have the other schools in their parish ever tried to have football and who stopped them?
I can’t imagine that Zwolle (who has great basketball) looks at what Many has done in football a few miles away and doesn’t have the itch to go up against them (they’d be a good sized 1A)
