Should we pursue? I’ve loved him since he was in highschool. RG3 clone. Big arm and 4.4 wheels. CBK has done well with dual threat QB’s. I think he could be a he is man type player in the right system.

What are the optics if we bring in any QB with Brennan deciding to stay?

We need a cornerback more than a running quarterback. I wonder if Hornsby would consider that.

This. Our QB recruiting is over for the year. Brennan was obviously convinced to return with the belief that he was going to have every opportunity to win the starting spot. I’m sure guys like Nuss and Howard are being told the same thing. If you bring in a 4th player, it will be a disaster in that room.

I think he is going somewhere to start. I don’t think he would be interested in Kelly’s offense. I see him in more of a spread option team. Honestly, he would wreck shop with Chadwell type of offense.

I suspect Brennan was, at minimum, told he has a leg up on the starting job. Otherwise, he would have just transferred to another school who could have given him more assurance that he would start. He only has a year or two left to play college ball. I doubt he stayed at LSU just for the chance to "compete" for the job.

That is why I doubt LSU would strongly go after Hornsby. I'm sure Hornsby is looking for a place he has a good chance of coming in a and starting. LSU doesn't appear to be that place.

Nope, recruit the Collins kid at Catholic and go with what you got. I believe Walker and Nuss one will transfer and if you bring in an older QB you might lose one sooner than needed. With Collins you will not. If he wins the job it will be after a Red Shirt.

I'm shocked that he's leaving with Briles staying. RG3 clone is pretty accurrate. There's not many OCs out there that:
1. Have experience, directly or indirectly, coaching that type of QB
2. Know how to use that type QB to the maximum effect.
3. Have the skillset to coach of that type of QB.

In short, he's not going to find a better "fit" for OC than Kendall Briles. Even if he has to sit behind Jefferswag 3.0 another year, the benefits- because of Briles- far outweigh a year of #2. And he's not ready for primetime just yet anyway.

Do we want him? Based on Ian Book w/CBK, I'd say he'd love to have him. For immediate playing time? It's not happening at LSU, or Arky, or probably any P5 program. So what's the point assuming he's in the portal for immediate playing time.

CBK and Denbrock would probably love to get him to develop. But I don't think our and his goals intersect.

Most definitely… we need insurance

We just had to play a wr at qb in the bowl game

Myles b left once he would leave again

If the the younger arms think they are better than whoever wins the spring they may transfer

Can just hand nobody the keys anymore let them earn it the more competition the better

Just go after Rickie Collins and start developing some QBs.

Did Hornsby redshirt this year? If so he should have 4 years of eligibility left. I don't see that changing the dynamic with Brennan. More than likely could replace Nuss, who might be leaving anyway.

ETA: looks like he played in 7 games, so 4 years to play 3. Not a big difference.
