Looks like Malcome Greene May flip to Clemson. Is that a surprise or part of the expected finish? Curious if anyone in the know could shed some light.

Not expected at all. Not happy about it either. Raymond really like this one, so we'll see who he gets replaced with. I'd expect his replacement to be before the 18th, so we'll move quickly

Kid is a stud so it sucks, but I always thought clemson was a huge school for Greene. Going to be interesting what direction they go to to replace him. Need another true safety in the class

Any chance we take Donovan Kaufman? Kid can play.

This stings. The kid is super intelligent from what I remember also.

Was hoping we could get him for ‘free’ in this class on academic scholly. He would have to sit out next year to do so. And maybe that was our offer and Clemson said they would let him play next year?

ETA (at 0 upvotes, 32 downvotes): Keep downvoting all you like. It doesn’t change the fact that this could have been a possible scenario. Greene’s academic accomplishments have been well documented. To quote our resident NCAA rules expert, Indiana Tiger:

quote:

He can be on academic scholarship. If he was a recruited athlete you don't have to count him until he plays in a game. So if he doesn't play at all his first year, he wouldn't count against the 25 initial counter limit (this is different from the 25 signee limit which he wouldn't ever count against. Confusing, I know, and it's almost a distinction without merit). In addition, after a year and he maintains a 3.0+ gpa, you wouldn't have to count him against the 85 either when he plays.

He is a beast, but doesn't play against the best competition and won't fill out much more with his frame. Reed is the go to safety in LA

Clemson coming after him only after a spot opened. Hey Malcom, we wanted you more.

Doesn't he play in 5A Catholic League? How much better competition can he play against? Didn't hurt Fulton or Chase

No. And Reed is the trending name at the moment. It could go a few different ways depending on how the numbers work out, but tentatively I'll say we push for Reed.

What? They just won state and traveled all over to play better teams

He's already 195 lbs according to 247. Reed is 197 lbs

You’re aware that Rummel is 5A and Calvary is 1A?

Hate to lose Greene but Reed would be an upgrade, right? Based on rankings at least. And he's a Louisiana kid.

I left out the little tidbit that he was the MVP of the state championship game too.

Rummel beat John Curtis who was ranked in the USA Today 25

& last weekend beat catholic who was #4 in the USA Today southwest region poll.

They beat 6A oak grove out of MS, the state runner up

They beat Charlotte Catholic who will play in the NC 3A state title game this weekend

Reed is much more likely at this point. Even with his strong senior season, Kaufman isn’t seen as an LSU level talent by evaluators

Think we liked Greene more, but Reed is a damn good replacement
