Guess Morrow didn’t make the trip

Yea, that was my assumption. Would've been nice, but there are others.

I’d rather Morrow than HVL. Can’t teach a big that can score . Plenty of other options at point

I’d love both.
But if we could land only one of HVL or Morrow, I want Morrow.
Then we can add Rogers from Oregon. Rogers had better a FG and 3 point percentage than HVL from last season.

I’d love both too, but I would argue that our position of need to point guard, so HVL would be my get of the two

Morrow is a luxury, not a need. Landing her would give us a small lineup and force the best forward in women’s BB to play out of position at the 5. It’s worth it to land the talent, but it wouldn’t be a flawless lineup.
PG is a much bigger need and it is basically unanimous that HVL is a better talent than any other PG in the portal. She had a career low season in efficiency, but had a career high in volume. That’s usually a normal trade off. Her coming here would probably lead to fewer, better quality shots, so I don’t think efficiency will be an issue.

I don’t think this is an issue. Kim basically has two low post players. She doesn’t lock them into playing an old school “5” (center) or “4” (power forward) positions.
That terminology and lineup structure is obsolete. Kim also doesn’t have a true “3” (small forward), but plays three backcourt players.
This is the age of “position-less” basketball in both the men’s and women’s games. Reese and Morrow would play together and complement each other just fine.

What about when your all American forward has to match up on defense against a true center? Position-less or not, she would be forced to defend larger players against teams that have them. Nonetheless, I trust Mulkey and her staff

Totally agree! With Morrows shot(one of the best I’ve seen in a long time) and Reese’s driving ability you can’t clog the lane. It would be perfect in Kim’s offense!

Right. Offense isn’t an issue. You still need a guard who can create offense, but the bigger problem becomes defensively. Reese is foul prone at the 4, it will only get more difficult at the 5. Morrow won’t be an option to match up against the other teams 5 either. Position less basketball still requires versatility, and defensively that lineup might not be very versatile down low. If offense was the only concern, most teams would run 4 guards out there.
I’m not saying Morrow wouldn’t be a good pick up, or Mulkey can’t figure it out. Just saying HVL is probably a bigger priority and based off of what we know Mulkey seems to treating her that way.

Anyone else surprised we haven’t had any defectors yet. Still early tho

Alisa Williams and Amani Bartlett didn’t play any more than the walk-ons last season and with an impact forward coming aboard, they scoot even further down the bench. Look for them both to transfer out.
We are obviously going to land an impact guard, either Van Lith, Rogers, or someone else. I hope both Poole and Poa stick around but I would not be shocked if one or both of that duo transfer to a place they can start since they’ve already won their natty. They both love it here so I hope they’d love the idea of being part of a super team and with the way Kim rotates, they’d both get plenty playing time. Of course, Velez could cut into backup minutes for both of them.
But such is the transfer portal era. It’s hard to stockpile quality backups. If Poole and/or Poa depart, then the portal takes away, but the portal gives.

Yeah Bartlett should definitely transfer. Really want KP & Poa to stay tho. Will be interesting

I agree. Come tournament time guard play is usually what wins you championships. The biggest reason we won those two Final Four games was not Reese, it was Morris.

Im so happy that KIM is making these decisions and not

Ladazhia Williams was also huge in the tourney. She had the Perfect skill set to play along side Reese.
