Good looking kid with a motor, room to grown and versatility.
Excellent offer
Speaking of DL what's up with Bryan Jones?

Yep, they feel he will be on board sooner rather than later.
Same guy who was pushing Rashard Lawrence to LSU

Wow. Saw his 247 page and was like OK not a mid 90's guy lets see his highlights... not expecting too much. But then WOW!
I like a lot of what I saw! Love the way he doesn't seem to ever give up on a play. Cool to see that his kickoff highlights were not a single occurrence one off type of thing. And nose for the ball and ability to shed blocks.
His highlights look at least as impressive as Ed Ingram's in my opinion!

Bryan Jones just committed to Ole Miss

I just don't understand why we have not offered him yet. A big DE right in our backyard you'd think we'd have pulled the trigger a long time ago but I'm sure an offer will come eventually.

Competition level concerns for Jones?
Waiting to offer at camp maybe?

This and there is probably some guys higher on the board they think they have a shot at. I'm surprised he committed because I'm pretty sure there was articles about him saying he was going to be patient to get his offer from LSU. He's never even been on the Ole Miss campus.

A big DE
That's the main issue with Jones, he's not a big DE. He recently measured up at 6'4.5 237, which is way too small to be a 3-4 DE. Then in pass rushing drills simply put he looked awful, got physically dominated and didnt show great quickness, so he didnt look like a 3-4 rush OLB either, which is the kind of size he currently has.
I think Jones is a 4-3 DE and unless things change above, isn't a good fit for our defense. Where do you put him?
They have their 3-4 DE targets really in Buggs, Mathis and Wilson (can play NT or 3-4 DE in our defense). Which considering Jones' lack of a pass rush ability, they probably see that as his place in our 3-4, but he needs to bulk up and put on a lot of strength.
They have told him repeatedly they want to see him at camp where they can setup scenarios for him to see how he fits.

With his frame he will probably end up being 270-280 when his college career is over. I don't think size is the issue

But they just cant assume he can carry that and be effective. Which is why they want him to camp. He showed a big time lack of strength in the opening 1 on 1s recently, so that's a big cause for concern playing in a 3-4 as a DE. They want to setup scenarios for him at camp to see where he could fit, if he can.
There's a reason they've offered guys like Buggs, Mathis and Wilson but not Jones yet. Size and strength.

Lawrence and Mathis lined up together again for LSU would be amazing. They were a force at Neville.

Is he a good back up dt, or a guy who can develop into a starter.
Yeah, we're full up on starters, but we're woefully lacking in backups. Les Miles said, "We saw this guy was uncommitted, and we knew he sucked too much to be a starter. We realized right then, 'We've found our backup.'" Is that how you imagine this?

Holy smokes!!! This guys going to shoot up the rankings imo. Looks like a Marcus Spears clone!! Smart player also, he's never out of position. Perfect for our new system. Aranda has to be drooling over all these La athletes he's got to choose from lol get him here asap!
