I understand there is confusion on this. A number of articles at the end of the Summer anticipated that you could replace players who transfered during the 1st term (fall). However, this is what the ncaa site says:

The good news is that this version doesn't mention the portal, so that will be good if they haven't transfered yet (Brennan is rumored to have already enrolled, haven't heard of anyone else).
Does anyone have a copy of the actual rule?
Of course none of this matters if we never get to 25 new counters the old fashioned way.

We'll get to the 25 counters.
We might take 18 freshmen and 14 transfers instead of 25 and 7, but we'll get there. Kelly uses all 85 scholarships.

You would assume these guys are still going to class because they need the hours from this semester.

I just looked over the transfer portal and our only hope is to pluck from about 5 guys that could possibly help us. Slim Pickens.
OL have to be coached up more than other positions so hopefully Coach K and maybe BD see something in a couple of these guys that can be developed.
Center is the key. We have a couple guys who could provide Average SEC level play at other spots but OL coach is really gonna earn his pay next season.

Some options for O-line via portal:
OT Miles Frazier from FIU - programs collapsing at FIU, says he wants to prove himself at a Power Five school
Paul Tchio - started 9 games for Clemson. Article says he wasn't very productive there, but was rated high (4-star) out of high school and has lots of potential. Brad Davis could pull that potential out of him. LSU is much better than FSU, which is projected to be the favorite to land this guy.
Pierce Quick - this article says he was a Top 100 recruit in 2019. The fact that Saban brought him to Bama says he should have potential. Seems injuries derailed his Bama days. May be worth seeing if he can get healthy and live up to his potential. Bring him and the DB, Marcus Banks, over and let them stick it to the Tide!

Yep I think Kelly is going to follow the Mel Tucker plan and go into the portal and try to overhaul areas that need help. OL is one, LB another.
CBK can turn lemons into lemonade here even if his hand is forced. It's what good coaches do- make it work for you. Time to go panning for gold in the portal.

Not saying they didnt stay in class after entering the portal, but I also dont know the exact rule. I was under the impression they couldnt enter the portal until after the semester. Hopefully in the coming days this will all be cleared up for us.

I think it is about 65 Scholarship players. But one of those included Stingley who is going pro and several guys who went through senior day like Chasen Hines, Atkins the Kicker, etc.
