Well according to my source, Dandy Don, whose source on this is Mike Detillier, , who hears that LSU feels strongly that they have a chance of flipping Pickering and Byron Young.
From what I gather from my sources (mainly Dandy Dons' column and The Rant) we are still in on these players:
Devonta Lee ( we seem to have the inside track on), Pickering and Young (currently committed to Miss St and Bama respectively), Dean and Jones, Sophser (comes with brother Rodney), Zipperer (LSU still recruiting hard), Ika (huge DT from Utah) and George Pickens (WR committed to Auburn.

Close but no cigar - AL has it wrapped up big. Multitudes of 5 stars with nothing else but 4 stars

yeah I would expect Bama to close out its class with all big time recruits. I don't think it would be numerically possible for us to catch them for the #1 class even if somehow we got Dean, Jones, Pickering, and Sospher

Cotton and Livingston May be very good but you have to have numbers on the line.

2019 class - Joseph Evans
2018 class - Davin Cotton, Nelson Jenkins and Dominic Livingston
2017 class - Tyler Shelvin, Neil Farrell and Justin Thomas

7 Dlineman in 3 years is very light especially considering those are

2 — 4* Recruits
5 — 3* Recruits

That’s how we get whipped on the line vs Bama like we have been the past few years

Well said and exactly right. It's hard to figure out really. Surely O knows he can't just sign one guy this year. I know he's working it, but he is cutting it dangerously close.

I know next year a big year for DL recruits for us... but IMO, it's not a position that you can't afford to not sign 3 every year.

Dean has a lot of NFL players and future NFL players to look up to too.

2013
2nd round

2014
4th round

2015
4th round

2016
2nd round

2017
3rd round
3rd round

2018
DE/LB 3rd round

In 2019 it'll be 1st round

In 2020 at least 2 will be drafted.

Couldnt agree More . O has drop the ball on Dline recruiting the last 3 years. No one to blame but himself. A bunch of projects is not beating Bama. Our Dline recruiting is starting to look like fricking Ark.

I feel like you aren’t melting on enough threads. Very low energy melts. Sad.

We have some depth and with 2020 it won’t kill us if we are light this year on Dline prospects. But we need one solid kid line Ish or whoever n tbis class. Then load up n 2020

We are heavy on the big uglies on the offensive side of the ball in the recruiting class, but for some reason we never could get much traction going with the big uglies on the defense side.
Probably because LSU was heavy on the defensive side in last year's class.

It was?

they signed three defensive linemen. I don't think that's "heavy."

Would be nice to end with Jones, Dean, Pickens, Sopsher and 2 more DLman then a OLB who can rush!

Really? Damn. Didn’t know that. So it’s still three then, right? That’s not “heavy,” right?

Thanks for the depth chart update btw

We don't need to go heavy on the DL but getting Sopsher, Ika, Pickering, Young, or someone else flipping would be huge for our future at the position.

It's not next year that's the issue its the year after that and year after that. If LSU wants to compete with the big boys then we need to have a legit 2 man rotation with either 2nd year 4* and 5* guys or 3rd and 4th year 3* and 4* guys. That's not going to be possible unless we sign 3 or 4 guys every year. That's not even including a rush DE or OLB like Strickland.

It just blows my mind that LSU can't go into TX, LA, MS, MO, SC, FL, AL, GA, TN, VA, NC, WV, KY, MD, Or AR and fill our needs on the DL every year. With our recruiting coordinator being on the west coast for so long you would think he would have some connections to some HS's over there in CA or somewhere close and we pull a 4* or 3* under the radar guy with all the intangibles we would want. There's tons of talent to go around out there who LSU could compete with in recruiting. The PAC 12 is down right now and we could be taking advantage of that.

That jet should be going to CA and the surrounding States non stop to identify guys from the 2019-2021 classes while making more connections and in roads there. LSU is a nationally branded name. Take advantage of their weak conference at this time.

I mean, I don’t think there’s any guarantee that Lawrence, Alexander or Fehoko will be back

I expect Fehoko to leave, the others I’m crossing my fingers on.

Next year will be Fehoko’s fifth year in college. Not many kids stay five years nowadays.

My favorite part is people popping in to give me the position in which players signed as.

How many of those guys you listed from the 2018 class are currently defensive linemen?
