I definitely agree. You have to now. Utah could have won with two more today. Michigan opened that vault rotation with a stuck 1.5 for a 9.975. Insane! That was difference in winning the title today.

I think I read somewhere that Alyona’s sister will be volunteer coaching at LSU next year. Is this true?

She is suppose to be in grad school this coming year (based off the plans she had before unless something changes). So yes I would expect her to be around the program.

She is extremely creative, it would be cool to see some of her ideas (choreography wise). I'm pretty sure she used to choreograph some of Michigans routines (floor and beam)

Scary thing is Michigan returns 23/24 routines, add a solid recruiting class with Jace Vore. Michigan had three all arounders score over a 39.700 today. That is absolutely insane.

I think LSU can get there but I think it comes down to beam IMO. Vault and floor will be ridiculous. Despite the issues on bars, I think we will get better with this incoming freshmen class and adding Kai back to the mix. Bryant can add at least .05 to her bars adding the half twist to the dismount. Beam will probably be Jay's #1 priority this offseason in addressing. We need to get more 9.9 scorers here and have much better consistency. I think Dunne, Kiya, and Aleah will be the back half of the lineup. Bryant will be somewhere in the middle. Have to address the other 2 spots and figure out a lead off routine.

Dismounts, handstands, and pointed feet need to be our priority on bars over the difficulty or which actual additional skills are in be routines, but especially dismounts. Cal had a national bar champion this year who did a full pirouette into a double tuck for a 9.95. TAKE A HINT JAY: THOSE SORTS OF BAR ROUTINES SCORE WELL AT NATIONALS

Do you all think Michigan winning and/or LSU not making finals will have an impact on recruiting for girls who haven’t committed yet? Konnor McClain liked a few Michigan-related posts on twitter.

I mean winning a natty will only improve your recruiting.... that said I don't think that is necessarily going to be the deciding factor. It certainly isn't stopping Florida from continuing to pull in the entire national team.

I am certainly not pleased with the way our season ended, but it is wild to me that Jenny has never been able to put it together with the talent she has. I mean they should have been a shoo-in for SECs and nationals.

Konnor likes a lot of posts of a lot of schools. She was UCLA heavy a few months ago. Then she started liking a bunch of Florida posts. Still not sure where she’s headed.

23 kids can be contacted later this summer and start committing. Will be interesting if some elites will pull the trigger early

Another team we need to look out for next year is Utah. They beat us twice in the post season this year and I believe we’re scheduled to compete against them early next season. Utah also returns 23/24 routines next year, with their one graduating routine that scored a 9.8875 in the finals and a 9.9 in the semis. Regardless of what happens in the olympic trials, Utah is getting Mykayla Skinner back next year for her senior season and she’s upgraded and cleaned up all 4 events and will most likely compete all around for them. Additionally, Grace McCallum and Kara Eaker are coming in who are both two time world champions and good on all 4 events. Plus level 10 commit Sage Thompson who is great on bars and has a Y1.5. I hope during the girls couple of weeks or however long their post season break from gymnastics is, the coaches prioritize figuring out the mental and skill side of beam, bars dismounts and form, getting Livvy and Kai back into as many lineups as possible, and their plan to keep the incoming freshman, as well as the team that we’ll have next year, as healthy as possible all season long. If we can’t keep pace with Utah when we face them early next season, I don’t see us winning nationals for the next several years

How do scholarship allotments work in gymnastics? Are they closer to college baseball (11.7 for 27 players)?

How will the allotment effect the seniors who may stay...or will it? Just curious.

Schools are allotted 12 scholarships. If I’m not mistaken, if a senior chooses to return for next year, it will not count against the 12 scholarships.

Also, I thought about this last night. With all the depth LSU had this year, could that have contributed to the reason for the lack of detail and precision? The more athletes you have, the more you feel pressured to give them practice reps. I can easily see this being the case on beam. I remember Jay saying in an interview early on that they could go 12-13 routines deep on beam. Maybe they should have just focused on 8 (or 9). Not saying this was for case but was just trying to figure out why beam was not good for most of the year.

As she should. Gymcastic misspelled her name twice on their feed, yet they claim to be the number one gymnastics podcast out there. Once: chalk it up to human error. But twice? Glad she corrected them

I just love her! I feel bad for her. They have been ripping her to shreds all season on the college gymnastics FB page and then she got it real bad after regionals. I’m glad she commented. A great reminder that these kids do read the horrible comments said about them. I would not handle that well and I’m in my forties.

I feel for her too, she’s gets ripped on too much in my opinion.

Alyona should be proud of herself though. For a kid who came in behind due to the Achilles injury, she made dramatic strides in such short time. She went from a bars specialist to an AA gymnast who scored above a 9.9 on all 4 events and earning 2 AA honors. No one can name me a more improved gymnast in the country from this season than Alyona. Very happy she is at LSU. She’s just getting started

They spelled her name wrong but you called her a basketcase after that very routine

You think Alyona feels bad seeing that, how you think the seniors would feel seeing the posts on here saying they underachieved for their careers and hoping they wouldn't come back?
This isn't to say no one should be critical but don't be hypocritical if some other place is talking them down, they catch plenty flak here.

Speaking In general sense, It’s one thing to criticize someone’s gymnastics (that’s fair game) but half the attacks from the gymternet are hateful towards these athletes for things completely not related to their sport. Making fun of their appearance, religion, assuming political affiliation, wishing Covid and illness, etc. it’s gotten so bad that LSU and some of the athletes have had to ban a lot of people on their social media. Gymcastic in particular like the post I posted above is really bad with it at time.

I was never one to wish the seniors to move on. Do I think we could upgrade in certain spots? I do but I was never one to wish they were gone. They are all great girls and I know they are doing their best. They represented LSU well and are good people
