I haven’t heard anything. She literally has kept her entire recruitment on the DL. Either Florida or one of the Cali schools is the general consensus unless she pulls a rabbit out of her hat.

Yes, I’ve been hearing Florida, Cal, Stanford, or UCLA for Leanne. But I think Cal is the only one with an open scholarship. But I know anything can happen.

How does the fact that this years athletes are given an extra year of eligibility affect the total scholarship count for next year?

Just read the Riley McCusker lawsuit vs. Maggie Haney. It’s a lot to take in. Can’t imagine training under Maggie Haney. Or any other abusive coach. We’ve got to do better as a system to protect these athletes.

Glad people came forward about her treatment of gymnasts. It’s one thing to be strict or tough but she took it to another level which was abusive and demeaning to her athletes.

Maybe it’s just me, she always came across as a bitch. I heard things over the years but Laurie pulling the trigger and getting rid of her after the Olympics was a pretty big red flag since Laurie grew up with her. It’s all caught up with her.

Texas dreams is gonna be interesting moving forward as well. Although I find their biggest issue is they literally do not pace gymnasts correctly. They all peak at 14-15 then fall apart and are injury ridden after that. This has ruined a lot of talented elites and even some of the level 10 kids. Kim grew up in a era where kids were peak level at much younger ages, very different from current gymnastics field. She hasn’t adjusted to that which is why very few elites survive long enough to potentially make the Olympic team. Ragan smith was an exception.

I’m really surprised no one is investigating Texas Dreams. They’ve had at least 15 gymnasts come out this past year about abuse allegations. I’m also really surprised that Sydney Barros is still there. Wish she’d move to WCC or even WOGA at this point.

On another note, Ciena Alipio, who I love on beam, isn’t expected to make a decision until late December. From what I’ve been reading, she wants to stay close to home. That would mean a Cali school or Utah. But I’ve also heard Oregon State is making a hard push for her.

Side note, these last three recruiting classes for LSU (19, 20 and 21) are superb and put LSU in a place talent wise to have a chance to win a title at some point in the future. It all comes down to fine tuning and constructing good routines. OU has proven you do not need a team of all US national team members to win it. Taking what an athlete does well, fine tune some of the details and constructing a routine to their strengths to maximize their scores wins at a very high level.

As for 2022, I hope LSU has a backup plan if they do not get Selena Harris. Lilly alone can't be the only 2022 kid. CGA kids are usually pretty worn down injury wise in general although I hope Lilly can break that spell and be very healthy by the time she gets to LSU. I see her being a very nice contributor on bars, beam and floor. She has actually grown a lot within the last year which should help her generate some more power.

I’m just really excited for the competition in practice. That’s something that’s been missing the past two years or so. No one was really in fear of losing their place in the lineups, especially last year. That’s something that KJ Kindler harps on in her interviews. Always talks about how you literally have to fight to stay in the lineups. I think it’s especially good for the seniors this year. Desiderio is going to have to shape up if she wants to remain in the floor lineup. Dean is going to have to work on her leaps if she is to remain in the beam lineup. Same for Sami here.

Also, I think Oklahoma has silently reloaded with their recruiting class for next year. A lot of solid gymnasts who will only get better under Kindler.

Dean and Sami have to worry about their leaps, but Desiderio has to "shape up" what does that mean??

Desederio has had a few misses on her floor routine the last two years. Some meets her double layout was fine and other meets she came up well short. I think it was mainly a stamina issue. Dance is fine but her tumbling has to be more consistent this year.

She certainly wasn't the only one to have misses in the past two years, but the only one that needs to "shape up" (?). Yes, there is more depth this year, and that is great, but I don't think anyone should think they didn't have to fight for their spot before this year.

Speaking generally as this was far from a one person issue, I was very disappointed overall with the execution of our leaps series across the board on beam and floor last year, too many kids coming very short on them. Campbell was almost the only one who hit them on beam. Kiya and Desiderio can hit their splits but the switch leap to switch half has to go. I’m not a fan of rotating leaps unless the gymnast is very flexible and can show the position. Having half the lineup do that leap series just isn’t smart routine construction.

I also didn’t understand adding MORE split jumps into Dean’s routine by DD last year. Her leaps are not her strong suit yet DD wanted to do it for more difficulty.

I understand the leaps aren’t every gymnasts strong suits but lsu does themselves no favors putting in additional split jumps and rotating leaps into the routines. It’s literally a built in deductions. They could help themselves just by being smarter in the composition of the routines. Those 9.85 routines could then become 9.9!

I agree 100% regarding the leaps!

Additionally, does anyone know how Brock has looked thus far? I know Jay mentioned during recruiting last year wanting to use her as a vault and bars specialist.

So disappointed in Leanne. Was really hoping she would go to cal or Stanford. Obviously school isn’t that important. If Jenny can’t win 2 championships in the next 4 years she should be fired!

I was wondering the same thing. Florida doesn’t have an open scholarship for 2022 now.

I don’t understand how Jenny is doing this. She is making Mrs Val look like a chump on the recruiting trail at this point

Didn’t they have complaints a few years back on how they recruited Trinity?
