I would take Elena out, but knowing him he will probably take Tori out. If they changed Elena’s pak to something else like a shoot over or give her an extra cast to handstand before the pak, then I would like her routine better.

I’ve never seen anything to think they look uncomfortable. Not sure what that even means.

I know Tori followed Elena’s mishap and the Georgia girl being injured, so that may have played a part in her routine last night. But the whole thing just looked so labored and shaky. I hope it was just an off night for her. I’ve wanted to see her get into some lineups.

I think based on Tori’s scoring alone he needs to take Elena out - that routine score relatively respectively even with its faults last night. Elena has a wonky pak and gets hammered in her dismount frequently. But probably right that Jay will stick with arenas…

Honestly it may be better to take out schennikova, but he’ll never do it. And I do get it - her form on the rest of the routine is exquisite. But the dismount has just such a relatively large risk every single time. I think on average most (other than Elena with her fall) in the lineup have outscored her this year.

ABSOLTELY FALSE!!! I have no idea what your angle is here or why,, but I can personally say, That is a TOTALLY FALSE ASSUMPTION!! If you don't like Jay, fine, but please stop with the thoughts of issues like this!

I won’t be as vehement as East Texas Tiger and I have been on record saying we should be allowed to critique the team/girls like any other sport, but I would suggest we refrain from this topic unless there is actual evidence of this (which there is not).

Also, for perhaps some context, I saw this same question asked in one of the lsu Reddit threads last week, so it is possible that the OP saw that and was asking this board if they got the same vibe.

Edited to add: I am not advocating that it was an appropriate question in the Reddit forum either, but Reddit is frequented by many who hate LSU for a variety of reasons, so not necessarily surprised it showed up there. And OP could have just seen it there and was asking this board without any other agenda.

If there is an event I do want to see more of Tori, its vault. I'd love to see them throw out her 1.5 vault. Heck, look at Chase Brock once she finally got her chance.

I like Elena and she is great depth on vault but she hasn't broken past a 9.85 so far this year and I think LSU is going to need all the scoring help and potential they can get this post season.

Yes definitely need another 10 vault. I agree with everyone about Elena being out the bar lineup. My main concern is actually beam. Kai has got to get her nerves under control especially in the lead off. They also need to desperately take all the switch half’s out . Maybe Kai should not lead off. As for Chase and floor, if Dunne is not a possibility who can go in? Jay is right this team has a lot of fight in them. If Bryce is ready, what lineups will she make. I do believe Alyona should definitely stay in on beam. Her form is the third best behind Bryant and Finnegan.

I agree Tigerbait357! If Tori isn't given the opportunity then why not give Bryce a chance to compete her YF which is beautiful IMO. It seems that Jay is sold on keeping two YF vaults so use the two best ones.

I’ve read somewhere regarding Kai’s switch half is they can’t take it out because it’s her only E-level skill in the entire routine and you are required to have at least one. I could be wrong on the nomenclature or rules, maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

She needs a E leap because she doesn't have a D level acro skill in her routine. If she can do that, they can take out that leap. Maybe its something they can work on doing, she had many of those skills going back to her JO days.

In the mean time, I do think they need to shake up the order of beam and take Kai out the lead off spot. Maybe throw Elena out there to open it up next week.

Maybe even give Kai a break this week on beam to regroup mentally and give Bryce Wilson a opportunity (who we haven't seen since the KY meet)

Bryce warmed up vault, beam, and floor last night. Seems like they are trying to get her ready for some lineups.

I know this gets asked time and time again but is anyone on this forum attending practices or the press conferences ?if so Are they are able to please ask why Alexis is not in on beam or even if she is training it? Feel that would be a much more solid score and could be a great lead off for us as she is on bars. I feel bad for Kai as with her injuries she hasn’t been able to do the gymnastics she has wanted in college but she really is a leader for the team in other ways. I just hope we can get beam together - if not as much as it pains me to say this gnat should not be coaching beam - look at how ucla,s beam line up has turned around this year after ditching comforte. I wonder if they could switch u gnat with Courtney to beam and gnat on floor? Anyway I’m still not feeling confident about beam and worry this will for the 3rd season in a row be our downfall in post season - we just don’t seem to have that confidence but hope all these set backs across each meet will prepare them if there is a mistake in post season that they come back. We had a low score / bad routine on most events this meet and still managed a good score so I have hope - just hope we can become more consistent and clean up form as scores in post season are not going to be as forgiving.

I really love this team and have been an LSU fan since I first started following NCAA. The girls are amazing, they are doing their best, and the team dynamic seems very good (from an outsider's perspective). But I agree that I am not very confident about the team's prospects. Too many issues have been raised over the years and not fixed, whether it is not giving different athletes a chance out, failure to adjust skills/routine composition. There is too much of sticking with the same things even if they are not really working. I don't really see us improving beyond, say, a 197.3 NQS, which is not good enough when the top teams will be closer to or even past 198.

I definitely agree with this! Put Elena in as lead off for beam. She has proven that she has been solid and consistent. Then try Kai second or maybe after Sierra.. Alyona, Haleigh, and Aleah would be my last three. And then I would try Alexis in place of either Kai or Sierra until we get Bryce back, or she may earn a spot in the permanent lineup. I was looking at the schedule and unfortunately there is not an SEC+ meet until the end of the month, so we can’t try out exhibition routines until then. Of course no one asked me..lol!

Everyone should watch Leanne Wong’s beam routine for a great selection of skills. She can do so many different leaps that are all more than what she needs but she plays it smart and is scoring so many 10s on the event. Her leap series is a split leap into split jump. She has a normal acro series of flip flop layout step out. She does a front aerial to beat jump. Then she dismounts with a double full. Why can’t Kai do that routine and take out the switch half? The only thing she doesn’t do is the front aerial. If she can do one of those then I’m sure she could connect it to a beat jump. Unless I’m forgetting something she would have have the same skills as Wong and not have that pesky switch half to worry about. Or try moving the switch half to the first skill in the routine and see if getting it over with helps.

If I remember correctly, I think Kiya was having issues with her switch half and they changed her routine this year. I forgot what they changed it too though. I’ll have to go back and look. Maybe they same could be adjusted for Kai.

I wouldn’t count on Jay taking elena out of anything if he can help it. He seems to have a lot of (too much sometimes) loyalty to the ga club girls. See Sami on vault and beam.
