Holy smoke who is this?

Freshman Kailin Chio, the vid below that post is Lexi Zeiss (another freshman)

All I can say is WOW! Do you think she will do that mount in college or is that for elite level only. She makes it look so easy.

I say its on the table for right now. If its consistent in practice we may see it in her routine for NCAA open with this. Chio did this in L10, she used to be an elite but dropped to Level 10 before college due to some injuries.
Now if she has issues with it they can always go to plan B. They scrapped Konnor's original beam pretty quick and gave her something easier so she could work on her confidence and adjust to competing every week in NCAA. I imagine they will do this with the freshmen. This freshmen class is HIGHLY decorated and come in with a high level of difficulty but they will have to tweak routines and find something that fits each one and what will be consistent and score well come NCAA season
Im excited. I really think Kailin Chio could end up being in the AA come post season for us this year, she is that gifted.

Thanks tigerbait. If conner can get back next year, I think we can repeat. Sec is going to be loaded next year. With all the great gyms in Texas, surprised the longhorns don't have a gymnastics team.

Zeiss is cleaning up well. I hope she can heal up a bit in the pre-season and thrive at LSU. Chio is going to be a star from day 1, that's pretty obvious.
Just seen on IG that there seems to be another member of this class - Victoria Roberts, a Louisiana girl. I'm guessing she is a walk-on. She has some decent skills and good form but it will be hard for her to make lineups with all the talent we have.

Don't forget to tune in on CBS Sports Monday night to watch the Honda College Woman Athlete of the Year Award.

Yes, Victoria committed in late November. Louisiana girl. Has some workable skills but needs fine tuning.

Haleigh was named as a top 4 finalist. The award was given to Caitlin Clark the winner of last year's award.

I was holding out hopes for Haleigh since CC won last year. I wonder if they will say who was in 2nd place. Had to be Haleigh.

It’s crazy to me that CC won the award 2 years in a row and she couldn’t even lead her team to a national championship during her record breaking year or even last year and Haleigh did

I agree. When I saw Caitlin's coach there, as a special guest, and the commentator brought up the subject of "can Caitlin be one of very few who have won the award more than once" that was a red flag IMO. CC has had so much exposure in sports this year. It is a shame that the committee can't see the light to choose new athletes for the award that have raised the bar in a sport. It was disappointing although I know Haleigh's mindset is strictly on representing LSU and her team. The focus has never been on "herself" and that is an admirable trait for such an outstanding athlete.

I love gymnastics, but, man, can it be a cruel sport. Just saw that Skye got injured in podium training for trials - I am not a huge fan of hers, generally, but she was looking very good for the team and it is just heartbreaking.

Looks like maybe Jordan too. :(

Oh I didn’t see about Jordan - what happened there?

Saw something on twitter. I’ll look and see if I can find it again.
ETA: it was a tweet from gymnastics now but they said she came back out later on, so she must be okay.

Wow huge bummer. Konnor annd Skye down on the same pass anfter both having a rough go ant it in 2021. One can only hope they’ll continue for 2028. Also now Skye wont get to compete with her sister at FL since this would have been the only year they’d overlap.
