Word on the street is LSU is the favorite for Helzy

Top 3 seniors at Nastia Cup are OU commits (Neff - Utah) tied with Estep for third. The SEC is only gonna get tougher.

Ella Kate Parker is a north Louisiana girl. She was elite but dropped back to L10 this year. She has been a Tiger fan in the past. I'm sure Garrett and Jay must be following her gymnastics.

Nina Ballou is not having a good Nastia Luikin Cup.
That was her worst meet in maybe 3-4 years but not worried about her one bit. She will alright

Thanks for the update! Did Lexi have a new injury? She was injured a year ago, but did AA I believe at worlds trials in the fall, but now is down to one event without a dismount. If she can get back to her 2022/early 2023 level she has a shot at Olympic trials.

Ella Kate also used to/still does train at CGA, the same gym Lexie Priessman trained at so LSU has been on her radar since she was a child. As for Hezly (not Helzy lol) she trained at WOGA with Konnor for a period of time and still does train there and is still incredibly close with Konnor to this day so I know Konnor being at LSU and the possibility of them being teammates again (in college) is definitely going to be a huge draw and factor in her choosing a college. That and both Jay and G also already both follow her on Instagram so she’s been on their radar for a couple years at least now too

It looks like California is still hot on our heels for 2nd place in the standings. Jay will need to be smart with the lineups going forward if it is important to him to keep a 2nd place in rankings. LSU needs a high away score at the podium meet to replace the 197.225 for the NQS.

I think it is going to be extraordinarily important to be in the top 2 this year to give yourself the best chance the way that the scoring is and honestly the way everyone is performing this year.

Right if went to supers they’re saying us, Michigan, ucla, and bama. Not stoked about that or going to Michigan.

A lot can change and hopefully some of the stronger teams will move into stronger ceded spots as NQS continues to right-side.
It will also be likely that cal moves ahead of us next week since we are home and our score can’t improve that much. However, I like our chances to ultimately come away with the 2 spot if we have strong performances at both the Baton Rouge podium meet and SECs.

The formula for regionals was as below with the exception of last year when they had to move Denver to a different slot since they were hosting a regional. Does anyone have a new formula other than the one listed below?
Team Rankings grouped together for regionals:
1, 12, 13
2, 11,14
3, 10, 15
4, 9 16
5,8,17
6,7,18
19-36 teams are evenly distributed for regionals.

The way the seeding is done now with NQS is actually different than what you listed with only 4 regional locations so 1-16 are automatic seeds placed at the 4 regional locations and 17-36 are distributed by regional location for that meet. So with the circle seeding, it ends up being:
1, 8, 9, 16
2, 7, 10, 15
3, 6, 11, 14
4, 5, 12, 13
This is typically the case for the tournament seeding. However, if 2 regional hosts end up at the same location, their ranking ends up being swapped with the next closest seeded non hosting team and that becomes their new regional.

Thanks for the new formula. I look for some of the rankings to be shuffled by the end of the season. I personally would like to see us go somewhere else instead of Michigan.

One thing I know for sure is that there’s absolutely no way for us to drop down enough in the rankings to end up at Cal. I honestly would rather end up at Michigan than Arkansas or Florida where we’re competing in an in conference rival arena and are more likely to get scored lower than a Big 10 arena where scores tend to actually be more accurate and fair across the board for all teams

I agree that Arkansas and Florida would be difficult. I just wish UCLA would not be in the same regional. They seem to always come on strong toward the post season and get the benefit of any doubt. Also, several years back Bama was close to the top in rankings and was shut out at the Michigan regional. That was surprising. Two Big Ten teams took the top two spots. It is a wait and see how it all shakes out.

What will happen with NQS this week? I see that Cal got a 198.1 at home. Does that mean we keep our 2 spot or will they pass us up?

If my calculations are correct Cal will bump us for 2nd place with a 197.95 NQS this week. Our NQS is 197.885. We will need to get a high road score next week to be in contention for 2nd place. LSU needs to replace the 197.225 from the Missouri meet.
Cal's road scores are higher than LSU's and they have very high 197's at home as well.

This is correct, but we can get back in next week because our potential increase on that 197.225 is large.

This was expected this week, given that we couldn’t get rid of our still lowest score. We should have a relatively sizable lead (in terms of NQS if we are able to out up a 198 number next week - and then, we can cement it likely with a good showing at SECs.
