Let me guess, you are somewhere around 5’7”. Don’t hate on tall people.

I prefer shorter RBs. I loved the era of Barry Sanders, Emmitt, and Dalton Hilliard. I’m very optimistic about CEH.

For years the NFL was trending towards taller WRs & shorter RBs. However, the opposite trend began 3 or 4 years ago. Catches by WRs under 6ft have increased every year, and carries by RBs over 6 ft have have also increased every year.

Defenses are playing more DBs and smaller LBs. Offenses are countering by hitting them with bigger backs. Not just heavier RBs, but guys that can fall forward for 2 or 3 extra yards because undersized LBs go low instead of squaring up and stopping them in their tracks.

Jackson was easily 6'2 and listed on some sites at 6'3.

All those others were tough runners with pretty decent footwork besides Henry. Some RB's can still get yards when teams penetrate the backfield. Others can't. DH is one of those who stops in his tracks 9 out of 10 times and loses yards the second he sees a defended in near the back field. The lack of agility is there with a lot of taller backs.

Eddie George is one of my favorite RB's ever. He was so smooth at that size. Deuce McCalister wasn't a small back either. Steve Jackson had excellent footwork and agility. When I see HJ's film, he gets tackled for loss an awful lot for him to be a "big" back. I just haven't seen it yet. Maybe I missed other games and film, but I think he needs a wide open hole or he might be ineffective. Hope I'm wrong if he comes here or he can learn to be more physical and better vision with footwork help.

It's not a big surprise, I figured they had the inside track on LSU. If he hadn't chose them then LSU had him, but Texas or (Herman I should say) is working on them to stay home. LSU can still do good by getting Kelvin Joseph back in the fold along with Surtain.

I see that Cole Tracy is now on the signed list. I heard that he was going to count against the 25 but didn’t quite believe it because so many were saying he didn’t. The total signers listed is now 18. Assuming Provens signs tomorrow as scheduled and Cherry and Marshall sign on Friday that would bring the total to 21. Only four spots would remain available. Surtain, Joseph, Goodrich and Chase.
