Honest assessment of the Tigers' roster strengths, weaknesses and any comparisons to the '22 team too please.
We will be better at running the break, shooting and passing. Rebounding and defense will probably be our weakness. To be a consistent winner, we will have to score a lot of points.
Looking forward to what I hope will be a much better team.

This was another issue from last season. I do not think that each player individually was a bad player, but the team never meshed together. Thats on Mcmahon for not being able to get that resolved, but thats also one of the downsides of pulling a lot of players from the portal. Sometimes they play well together, sometimes they just don't click on the court. It was posted on the rant that Hannibal said this team hangs out a lot more off the court than last year, so hopefully that off-court chemistry translates

McMahon better learn how to get players to mesh. It is the norm to have team turnover in the current men's basketball.

Yes Cook is eligible. No issue there. Collins is legit. I expect him to start at the 4 next to Baker. Add in Fountain and Reed and we have a very nice looking front court this upcoming season.

Cook was not eligible per McMahon on a recent interview (around 2 weeks ago). LSU was working through the process.
Please show your sources for this new information on Cook if you can.

Do you have a link to the interview where Mcmahon said that? The only recent interview that I can find is his interview with Jordy from a couple weeks ago and they do not discuss cooks eligibility
Eta: Sheldon Mickles reported that the only reason Cook didn't play in the Bahamas was because of a hamstring injury, which seems to point that he wasn't ineligible, at least from what the school is aware of right now

Here is an advocate article from 8/2/23. Near the bottom, it quotes McMahon saying Cook was not cleared by the NCAA. It did not color coach as being concerned about it, IMO. But the NCAA is cracking down on these second free transfers per their actions and words.
If anyone has better or more recent information, I would like to know it.

I believe everyone may just be guessing at this point. Typical bullshite with the NCAA: decision will take far too long, almost no transparency about the process, there will be zero reasoning behind whatever decision they make, and there will be next to nothing that the school will be able to do about it

I don't necessarily think you can deduce that. Eligibility shouldn't really matter for exhibition games.

If a player wasn't eligible, why would you play him over players who are, even if it was an exhibition?

Maybe you still have hope of him being deemed eligible

If Cook has burned his one free transfer and he is not a graduate transfer then he's waiting on a waiver from the NCAA, correct? If so, is anyone optimistic in that scenario?
I can't see that there is more than a 10% chance he gets a waiver given past experience with the NCAA.
