Do we expect Patrick, harden, and ruckert to have an expanded roles next season?

Patrick seems to be Jay's designated PR. I doubt he does much other than that.

Harden might see more time at DH if the lack of hitting continues, but he's looked pretty rough at the plate other than the one HR

I think Ruckert has a true shot to finish the season as the 2B if Dardar or Simpson don't start hitting. He'll for sure be the defensive replacement there all season

Personally I’d let Ruckert start a few games and just see if he can hit any. Seems like Jay is playing the freshman a little more this season, maybe to try and prevent them from going in the portal like last years did.

i think the youngsters have a better chance of returning since you are losing most of your position players to the draft

Would be shocking and unsurprising at the same time for me.

I know he was hurt and/or recovering from his injury most of his time here, but it seemed like he just never had it after the injury.

He was pretty good at the end of '21, but really only extended once all year.

Was meh in '22 in short action before the injury.

Had a rough '23 while recovering from TJ.

Had a rough '24 whenever he tried to go more than an inning.

I guess he always seemed to have great stuff for a couple batters, but could never put together back to back good, somewhat extended (2 IP +) outings at any point in his career after '21.

Now, if 2021 Oregon regional Javen Coleman showed back up, that's a big leaguer.

He was great against Oregon that day in a crucial time for LSU when they needed him. It's a shame he never really blossomed here.

New JUCO LHP on the radar: Cade Pilgrim, Gaston College.

He's a sophomore that doesn't appear to have thrown yet this season. And he might be currently committed to South Carolina. He pitched at Flo-Dar Tech last year and struck out a guy an inning.

He should be easy to pull away from there

Member of the 2025 class. Would be nice to have him on the staff.

I will say, outside of maybe Tucker Toman, every single Jay signee that went pro out of HS has been an absolute monster.

Haven’t had many ZVRs, Slade Heathcott’s, or Brody Colvins.

That 1-2 punch last year was truly special.

Something something not an SEC pitcher.

…and might not be committed to South Carolina after they fired PM last night. Jay strikes me as the guy to give him call over his eggs and bacon this morning.

I'm not sure what his status with LSU is at this point, but Marshall Louque is acquitting himself quite well at the JUCO level.

Marshall Louque

Andrew Clapinski continues to rake as well. Clapinski

I'd much rather supplement with guys we've already been looking at from JUCO than dip back into the portal for borderline guys. Especially with in-state kids.

Jones College in Mississippi has a ton of Louisiana kids. The one that really jumped out at me when "scouting the statline" was Trevor Hodges from Live Oak. I don't know anything about his velo or pitch mix or anything, but something is working for him. A WHIP of .78, ERA of 1.30. 5 wins, 3 saves.

Trevor Hodges

I don't think we're connected to him in any way.

Dylan Champagne is another intriguing player from Jones. Coincidentally, former LSU pitcher Weylin Guidry has a son playing at Jones.

Looks like Riley Cooper got released by the Reds yesterday. I wonder if he tries the indy route for this season.

Project, why hasn’t LSU recruited Braylon Montgomery from Walker who’s committed to Oklahoma?
