Sides retweeted the announcement from Nawrocki.

He’s from a super small town in way Northern California. It’s not inconceivable that from a personal development standpoint he’d want college before the minors. I know he spent a year in Orange County, but still.

Sides and Nawrocki would be awesome.

Nice

I think he’s my favorite prospect in the class.

Give me Schmidt, would love to hear Lynn discussing the pronunciation of both him and Williams’ last names

Regarding Nawrocki- Think you can definitely try two way early in the year, but I would assume Jay likes his slider from the left side if he struggles any with the bat early and someone else gets hot

I think he absolutely will do both.

I think he is the first real 2 way player Jay has been desperately trying to get.

He’s had Paul Skenes & Jake brown & Casan Evans to a lesser extent

I don’t know why people get excited about the 2 way status but maybe he’ll cave for Nawrocki. I think they will prefer he pitch if they had to pick

Skenes was generational on the mound and Jay knew that.

Brown wasn’t good enough on the mound compared to what he brought at the plate and as an every day fielder.

Evans wasn’t the offensive threat Nawrocki is and to me is a better pitcher than hitter.

Some think Nawrocki is a better hitter than a pitcher.

Having said all that, I’ve got to see Jay have a true 2 way guy before I’ll believe it.

We were pretty thin at SP for Paul Skenes to be risked.

Brown and Evans have both said they decided to focus on one and not try both.

Evans has a funny story about taking ABs when he got there and thinking “maybe I should focus on pitching.” Milam told a similar story of taking an AB against Evans and thinking “yeah this guy isn’t hitting”

Evans is a great athlete. I’d say most athletic pitcher on the roster.

All of those guys were allowed to hit in scrimmages & in Skenes case, had full seasons doing both at AFA. You are short changing Evans as a hitter & Brown as a pitcher, but whatever. I understand all of what you said but saying this is the first two way guy is just patently false

LSU has a bunch of really good hitters. They don’t have a LHP with his stuff.

He isn’t the first guy who has hit and pitched before LSU, but every other one focused on hitting or pitching and besides Skenes it seems like it was their choice.

Evans said after a few scrimmages he knew he didn’t want to hit.

Not sure with brown if his preference would be to do both or he fathered concentrate on hitting.

It’s a hard thing to do both but I think Jay is open to someone to do both it is just how exactly to navigate it.

Skenes wasn’t touching a bat again once he unlocked his pitching

I’m not saying he won’t, I’m just saying there is a strong pattern that he won’t.

what you said was factually incorrect. Which is why I’ll believe it when I see it.

I was talking about Jay allowing players to both hit/pitch in season. Don’t recall any of the guys you mentioned doing that. That’s all that matters.

I’ll never forget getting to see Skenes hit bombs at the Box that fall. He typically hit the ball 400+ feet and made the crowd gasp or he’d hit a dribbler back to the mound or K.
