Until about two weeks ago I had completely ridden off the idea that he wouldn't sign but the closer we get the more hopeful I become that he makes it to campus....call it blind faith I guess lmfao.

Assuming he signs and for quite a bit less than $5M is the safest bet here
We've had miracles happen, but this really just seems like a kid who wants to sign and driving the price up as far as possible
If this was a LA kid who grew up going to LSU games and loved LSU (Will Schmidt for example), I might see it a little differently, but I would 99% expect Schmidt to sign.

I don't think many young men will turn down 3 million. I think he will get that if not more.
It's not impossible but it's likely he will sign
We will get some surprises and disappointments. We just hope for more surprises than disappointments. Losing 8 players from this class is expected, any less would be nice.

The last two weeks was when I saw that $5mil number come out. And the more time that goes on I get more hopeful that he won't get that number making it more likely he makes it to campus.

I'm really disappointed that MLB.com hasn't updated the draft tracker yet for 2026. It's really affecting my ability to procrastinate.

I can't find anything on him, so not sure. Official contact with the 2028s doesn't start until August 1st I believe.
There is still a lot of movement to be had with the 2027 class around that time though with East Coast Pro and Area Code Games.

Same. It's some of my favorite days of the year. I hate that they've shortened the draft and reduced the levels of minor leagues. More baseball is better than less baseball.

Yeah, I like when they have real prospect writers on the broadcast like Jim Callis or one of the BA guys. The regular baseball guys go crazy with their comps. All comps to like HOFers and shite.
Then you get a real prospect guy on there and they compare them to a 4th starter in the majors and people are like WTF? without considering that it's high praise at all to compare favorably to any MLBer.

it’s such a double edged sword with these elite HS guys.
They won’t show up if we can’t basically guarantee playing time and we can’t guarantee playing time because they were fricked if they don’t show up.

I said this in another thread, but Weinstein is a preview of what would happen if no more HSers were drafted and everyone only had to stay two years.
You might get some better guys to campus in the first year, but after that the talent will start to distribute itself to maximize playing time above all else.

Yeah thats probably cause everyone sees how much we get gutted in the draft and expect us to be able to pile up the top picks every year and thats just not realistic. I liked the draft reduction at first but I'm starting to wish it was expanded again.
