If for some reason we needed to add a veteran catcher (I don't think we do), Mac Rose just hit the portal from Vandy. He was a guy I liked out of JUCO at McLennan.

There's a reason all these tennessee guys are hitting the portal.

We don't need to consider them.

New LSU follow, but according to 64 they have him listed as a Utah commit, though I do not see anything on his Twitter or elsewhere about that.

Hopefully neither.

They have no reason to leave where they are.

Higgins would have been nice but give me Bailey all day over him. Higgins is going to be a 5th year college player (if he's granted eligibility) and only became good/notable this past season (as a reliever).

Bailey was a true freshman who has very high 2027 draft stock, will be a 2 year player in college still and has a FB up to 98 from the left side and is a starter.

I disagree - I wanted Higgins a bit more. He has higher strikeout numbers, lower walk totals, a much lower ERA (1.87 vs. 4.89) and WHIP (0.90 vs. 1.31) on the season, and did great against the SEC this year (0 ER in 5.1 innings), while Carson Bailey did pretty poorly against the Big12 (6.32 ERA). Production should matter more than draft stock and the radar gun.

With Higgins and Mebil off the board, it looks like we are continuing to look at all the lefty pitchers in the portal.

Apples to oranges imo. One is a 5th year senior with great production this year and likely would’ve slotted into our bullpen but we know the ceiling.

Bailey is coming off a true freshman season with ceiling untapped with raw stuff that has the potential to be elite if he can reach his ceiling and is probably more of a candidate to start at LSU.

Im frankly tired of people checking a stat line from one true freshman season and saying we don’t want them. Kade Anderson had a 27 ERA in SEC play last year but if you were an LSU fan, you knew what the ceiling could be.

Both Higgins and Bailey are takes (or were) for different profiles and reasons. No need to want more than the other since they don’t fit the same role.

I'm always skeptical of the guys that they don't put certain numbers out on. Like, Kendall isn't posting his ERA, which is 5.34, or his WHIP which is 1.57.

Not that those numbers are the end all be all, just a little annoying.
