Beck and Brown will get some time on mound during fall primarily due to not as many left handed pitchers on the roster
I think it's a bit more complex than just that.
The OF is crowded with LHH so I wouldn't count out either of them becoming nearly a pitcher only. I know that sounds absurd, given the potential of both as hitters/position players. Brown has big potential on the mound, too, though...I'm less familiar with Beck as a pitcher, honestly, but the build is similar.
I'm sure Jay also wants to see if either or both is capable of handling the demands of a two-way player. It's not easy. At worst, you build them up for that and adjust accordingly.
Alot of different scenarios could present themselves. At worst, you have a couple more LH arms to challenge the LH bats during the fall. At best, you realize that you have 2 truly gifted athletes that can play both ways seamlessly.

This is just an observation. Right now the 2025 class has 18 listed. There will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 returning from the current roster for the 2026 season. If we cut down to 35 man roster in 2026, there isn't much room for portal additions. I know it will work out but don't be surprised to see some attrition.

I’m hiding out in this thread for the time being I think. How many days until first pitch?

Makes losing in football so much easier

Yeah I don’t get nearly as emotionally involved in football anymore. I was disappointed after last night for maybe like 20 minutes.

Most of these transfers are draft eligible and most should go pro as it should be
Several high profile high school guys that will not make it to campus as well

You think someone could take some pictures of the renovations going on inside The Box. With all the videos and cameras we have now you would think some college kid would sneak and take pictures.

In my opinion the college football product has gotten worse since NIL and the college baseball product has gotten way better… But I’m also baseball diehard so maybe I’m biased.

With school starting back up, we're starting to see some JUCO guys get added to the radar. There are like 4 or 5 new ones, mostly LHP. But one notable one is RHP Alex Walsh from Northwest Florida State. From Mandeville and originally committed to Mississippi State out of high school. Had a good freshman season at NWF and is currently in the fall of his sophomore year there.
ETA: Looks like he actually spent last fall at Mississippi State and transferred to NWF at the break. 60 k in about 64 innings. 38 walks is a bit high, but he's going to get a lot of innings to work on that.
Also, it looks like Champ Artigues will be the new Ops Director, taking over for Brent Haring. He was a GA last season. From the press conference it sounds like Ben Nippolt is the GA this season.

Not LSU related but anyone who loves college baseball should know that former rice coach Wayne Graham passed away last night. Best penmanship I’ve ever seen on a lineup card.

He also created the Rice hat logo. It's not a tradition "Old English" R. It's a Wayne Graham creation.

Agree. With only 20 rounds and in the MLB draft, NIL helping get a few more guys to campus, and soon to be increased scholarships, I think the trajectory of college baseball is still heading upward.

Sad day for college baseball.

Coach Graham agreed to come play in the first Wally Pontiff Classic for a midweek game since Wally's last game was against Rice before his death.
