Newman kid, right?
Posted on 1/7/25 at 12:05 pm to DRock88
was he the one whose last name was pronounce Martin-ez rather than the latin Marteenez?
Posted on 1/7/25 at 4:23 pm to ProjectP2294
I don't remember a different pronunciation. I remember he threw stiff with a good slider. Newman had a good group of players around that time, several that went to Tulane.

He was one of the harder throwers in the area around then

I didn't like hitting off of him. Good velo but the slider was ++.

Jay Johnson’s program carried a heavier number in the fall than is allowed on the roster as the spring semester begins. That has been resolved as a pair of Tigers have transferred to the junior college level, Johnson told LouisianaSports.net (first reported by Koki Riley of The Advocate).
Trenton Lape, who redshirted last season, has transferred to Chipola College, and Trevor Schmidt has re-enrolled in Fullerton College where he spent last season.
Right hander Devin Sheerin, a Mount St. Mary’s transfer, tore his ACL last summer in a non-baseball accident. He will redshirt this year for LSU.
That puts the roster at an even 40 eligible players which is the limit in 2025.

PG ranked Curiel the top freshman for the 2025 season. Anybody have the full list? I'm not a PG subscriber.
Will Schmidt also in the top 10 at #4.

Yes, I saw that. I'm interested in the full list, including kids from other schools.

-Mid Week games matter
-Conner Ware was the best pitcher in the fall
- Danny Dickinson was given #14 because he reminded Jay of Pete Rose
- Eyanson Jay saw him while scouting another pitcher in the Cape. Moved on him when he entered the portal. Reminds Jay of Holman, and says he will be at the front of what they do this year as a pitching staff.

Anyone know when spring workouts and scrimmages begin?
Posted on 1/11/25 at 1:40 pm to Classy Doge
First full squad preseason practice January 24th is all I have right now.

Thanks Wild. Looking forward to seeing some baseball

this list is pretty weak per usual with PG. Several of these kids not at LSU didn't even play in Fall. Based on my research it shows they basically took their state final top 10 PG rankings and dropped them into this list. Explains why Hogg is not listed as he is #11 in Texas. Literally a copy and paste from state rankings...smh. Top Juniors left off Bear Jones and Senior list left off Josh Pearson.

Just an observation on the 2025 class. 12 position players and 8 bat lefthanded. Not a big surprise with Jay but still a high ratio.
