It was probably mentioned here at some point but I’m positive that Root was one of the ones on a visit here this weekend.

Ohio state starter Beidelchies
He was #2 in the fss rankings/article mentioned in the Kilen and Root post.
quote:

Beidelschies is an extremely talented lefty with one of the better fastballs in the class at this stage. He spots it well high to the arm-side and generates whiffs thanks to late carry through the top rail. Beidelschies saw his whiff rates on the fastball take a considerable jump in 2024 as his command for the heater took a step forward. He's been up to 98 and will work a lather in the 92-95 bucket.

The slider also took a huge step forward in 2024 featuring a 43 percent whiff rate, touching 87 with firm, short shape. Contact quality against that pitch was putrid for opposing hitters. Beidelschies also flashes a changeup and a curveball, both of which project average or better at final maturation.

He pitched 84.2 innings in 2024 punching 91 tickets and issuing just 31 free passes -- good for a 4.15 ERA. He's a finished product who will pitch on Fridays for his new team in 2025.

I think getting one of Root or Beidelschies to compete for weekend starter and then adding another 2 bullpen arms from that group should solidify the staff.

That would be pretty good group to compete for the weekend rotation

I believe Koki from the advocate said Wicker is no longer in the picture. Jacob Mayers walked a ton.

We really don't know how many pitchers we will lose to the draft or how many Jay would ask to redshirt. If Jay was being really aggressive he could go the attrition route but I'm not sure if he would do that.

The baseball portal being open before the season and the draft are complete seems pretty dumb to me.

On a side note, there are rumors of breaking news tomorrow, non portal related.

I believe Griffin Herring is getting the start for Chatham today. All cape cod games are streamed free on their site.

Konnor Griffin, pulling his name from the draft? One can dream, right?

If Noot's arm has recovered, he's the real deal.

The HRs are impressive, but a higher average would be nice.

He hit .300 the year prior. Every single stat improved but AVG. Makes me wonder if he got super unlucky on hard hit ball.

Assume Javen Coleman was planned to be a bullpen arm.

Javen just never fully recovered, not too unexpected IMO

He’s only got what one year of eligibility left?
