pbr updated state rankings for 25 and 26 classes
PG updated national rankings for 2027 class, Jordan Griffin is up to number 10 nationally. Was number 23 before the HS season.

Hasn’t Courville been committed to A&M since he was a freshman? Wonder what connections he has there.
Posted on 5/30/24 at 8:40 am to Tigerfan14
yes and from my understanding, he just really liked the school when he went and what they offered academically. Also i think LSU looks at him as more a 2nd baseman, A&M more as a catcher. just based off hear say, no first hand knowledge

Maybe not the thread for it, but didn’t feel like dealing with the rant.
Do they let brown pitch at some point? I mean that’s why he was such a draft risk, what he did for team USA, etc. Or has that ship sailed?

quote:I doubt it. There's just so much more that goes into getting a pitcher ready now a days. They'll want him to build strength in the arm as a pitcher, and the only way to REALLY do that is to put him through pitching workouts and prioritize that over hitting/defense. I think Jay sees that he's one of the best athletes on the team, a left handed bat, and has power potential, and sees him as too valuable in that role.

That's not to say he'll never make an appearance, I just don't think he'll ever be a true two way guy during his time at LSU.

MJ Seo pitched two scoreless for St Cloud (NWL) the other day. Struck out two.

Understood. Thank you

Ashton Larson is no longer going to the Northwoods League, he'll be with Chatham in the Cape Cod League.

I'm curious to see what he does in summer ball. That might give us an idea on the plan as far as 2 way.

That's good to hear. For some reason I thought he had TJ after he threw 1 inning in the fall and then rumor was he had elbow issues.

yeah but if you are in Jake Brown's shoes and you have a chance to pitch on the professional level why not get some mound time
it's not like he blew up as a position player this season, now if he can reach his ceiling in the field then maybe he starts to rocket up draft boards as a position player

Pretty sure he really struggled pitching in the fall. Couldn’t throw a strike and got hit a bunch. His scouting report out of Hs was that he didn’t have overpowering stuff, but was very polished. Seems like his floor and ceiling is higher in the field than the mound.

Kind of my point. With the potential he had out of HS as a pitching prospect, I'd like to see him continue as a 2 way.
My point on watching summer ball is if Jay still has that in the plan you will see him working on both in the summer wherever he goes for summer ball.

He had 8Ks in 9IP in the fall but he did give up quite a few hits and BBs. WHIP was 2.22.
However, Cam Johnson had the best pitching stats out of everyone on the team in the fall and now likely won't be on the postseason roster. So hard to make judgements on the fall. For him to pitch for team USA and then be a draft risk as a pitcher, I don't think you can give up on that.

Priester number one JUCO Catcher. Nice.
Seo had bandages on his throwing elbow in the fall. After being injured the first week. They were small bandages and never looked like TJ.
The one time he pitched lacked some control but was up to 95mph

DJ Primeaux will be pitching for Brewster in the Cape Cod league this summer.

The Reaves situation may be worth monitoring this Summer. According to an article a few days ago he had the option to come to LSU this season but chose to return to Blinn to work on defense and improve his stock. He had really solid offensive numbers, and it would have been nearly impossible to replicate what he did last season, but there was a noticeable dip in power. And he’s been playing RF mostly.
