Scone and his GameCoin cronies should 100% be in jail. Also, is there any chance Scone is purposely being fed inaccurate information by someone? The guy is consistently wrong about the program.

You left off Ware at LHP. By all means don't leave off any of them...

I still think we need a catcher, an infielder, and 2 LHP from the portal. This could include our own guys in the portal...

You guys remember when he used a TexAgs source to say if Kelly was offered the Michigan job he’d take it? He just enjoys the attention he gets from acting like he knows stuff the average fan doesn’t.

That was the last straw for me. I won’t even turn his show on anymore. That was just irresponsible on his part and could’ve hurt LSU. He’s all about his ratings.

Anyway, so it seems like now we are done with the portal and just await the draft huh? May or may not take another catcher from what folks in the know are saying ?

I did want to ask about the big kid, Kale Fountain. Is he a guy that y’all think could hold down 3rd base from the get go?

I think we probably won't see any action until after the draft. I think Nolan Wilson is still possible C/OF/DH from Nevada. I also think Trey Ciulla-Hall is still possible depending on what we lose/get back in the draft. Certainly I think we will add at least one more LHP, maybe 2.

I think he can but I don't think that is the ideal situation. I think you really would like Braswell to come back and have Dickinson at 3B with Milam at 2B. If you end up with Jones back also, that is a very solid infield.

I don't understand why he believes this and is so sure about it.

He got into it with me on his morning scone show last year during the CWS (I was commenting in the chat) over Travinski. He was talking about Milazzo replacing him in the lineup because of his defense, and I brought up how I thought it was pretty clear Travinski was hurt. Matt proceeded to go on the offensive against me, thinking that I was arguing whether or not Milazzo replaced him for defensive purposes. But that was never my point. I just said Hayden was hurt.

So, he tells me that Hayden was not hurt. I said "yes, he is, I saw him holding his side and wincing while walking off the field, multiple times". He again insisted I was wrong, and that he was replaced for defensive reasons. Again, that was not my point.

Fast forward a few days from there, and he was talking about Travinski again. This time, he was saying that a scout told him Travinski was getting nothing but fastballs all year, and that was why he was having success. I thought this was a puzzling comment, as it clearly wasn't true, because teams aren't dumb enough to just keep throwing fastballs to a guy if he keeps hitting, and I know I saw him hit offspeed pitches. So I chimed in again, and simply said something like "he definitely saw more than just fastballs".

So Matt, because the subject matter involved Travinski again, and because he remembered me from our disagreement a few days before, assumed that I was somehow connected personally with Hayden and accused me of being defensive. Which I flatly stated was false. Then he said "well, no disrespect, but I'm going to take the scout's word". I don't know if he really spoke to a scout, but I'll take his word on it. However, this scout, I don't know how much film he actually watched, but I don't have to be a scout to see a breaking ball with my own two eyes.

Anyway, Jay Johnson had confirmed in an interview the day before that Travinski was indeed injured, and so since Matt decided to disregard my opinions out of hand, I brought up our disagreement from before and how he was proven wrong. Know what he said? "Jay lies." He used examples of Jay not being forthright about injuries to "prove" his point. Only problem with that, is Jay never lied about someone being injured, if they were not. He just didn't give straight answers to questions about known injuries.

He just couldn't admit he was wrong. Other than that, I've never had a big issue with him. I don't take any of these media types at their word when it comes to facts. It's just entertainment for me.

No freshman is holding down any spot from day 1 ever. I'm not sure why people always continue to put freshmen in their projected lineup. You know what freshmen held down their spot from day 1? Crews and Bregman. I'm sure you could say a couple more and I'm only going back 15 or so years but you get the point. Any freshman that earns a spot at any point in the season is a bonus. Every time, every year.

I said it a few pages back but the only thing that really annoys me about him is how he pats his own back for the satisfaction when he is right and rubs it in your face as if he knows all.

Other than that I don't have a problem listening to him. I also know enough about sports, especially LSU baseball, to know what info to take and what info not to take from what he talks about when I do listen to him.

There is a difference in holding down a spot as a freshman out of necessity and coming in good enough as a freshman to take a spot. I took it as the guy asking about Fountain at 3B as if he had to could he handle it as a freshman.

Same here. He rarely, if ever, breaks news, but when he claims to be breaking news, I know to wait for more sources to confirm it. Like I said, it's just entertainment for me to listen/watch. The argument he and I had annoyed me, because he was just being completely unnecessarily difficult. But there have been no other such instances since then.

And yeah, the back patting is also something I don't appreciate. A little humility goes a long way.

You mean to tell me that Will Hellmers starting opening day at 3B was out of necessity?

As far as if we’re done in the portal, I’d say we are until after the Draft, then we might see someone like Nolan Wilson commit if we need another catcher.

Simmer down man. I wasn’t saying I had the kid penciled in. I was simply asking if we need him to, could be a competent player there as a freshman. Not suggesting I expect him or any other freshman to come in and look like a first rounder from day 1.

I get where you are coming from, but Milam pretty much did this past season. Yes he literally didnt start the very first game, but he started games 2-4 that first weekend because Jay was still experimenting at 2B but he ended up starting 60 games over the course of the season rarely coming out.

I dont know how next season will turn out but it never totally surprises me if a freshmen gets a chance very early and holds that spot down over the season. Would Kale Fountain or Curiel do that? Who knows but I wouldnt put it entirely past them. I think with what Jay has added in the infield at this point it's probably more difficult for Fountain to break into but I think there's a real chance Curiel could impress early on at CF because I just dont see us having a CF type if Stanfield doesnt make it in. I think Stanfield could be the reason Curiel either does potentially start early on (goes in draft) or doesnt (makes it here) in the OF.

That was neither. That was just one of those Manieri moves like Will Safford in game 1 of a regional at 2B.

It's definitely getting crowded, not that I'm complaining.

One thing I really am encouraged by, is it seems these guys really want to be here and aren't afraid to compete, because when you start trying to project where these guys will fit into the lineup an on the field, it's clear there are going to be some hard decisions. So these guys aren't just walking into a guaranteed starting spot (though Dickinson seems pretty safe). Same with the pitchers. There are some huge upside arms competing for the rotation. Getting Eyanson this late in the game, when there were surely less crowded rooms he could have walked into, is pretty huge.

We are pretty thin at LHP. We may need Brown to get some work. I'm hopeful, but not convinced Herring comes back.

Lape is on campus as of this week. He's working the youth baseball camp with some coaches and teammates (Bras, Frey, Milam, and Mic Paul).

My informant (son) said one of the players 'had a broken arm". That could mean anything from an arm in a sling to having fingers taped up.
